I'm webmaster at work and prefer Firefox. Firefox is a compliant browser which renders web pages according to the standards. IE does not. My experience from what I've learned from others in the field is that you design a page for a compliant browser (ie Firefox) and do a workaround for the others (IE).When writing html codes, sometimes I make errors and I dont notice that on Firefox, because it seems to ignore such mistakes. IE7 follows strict coding standards and such errors in codes will not be ignored. Therefore two different results in two different browsers.
I had to reinstall and start using IE7 for this reason. Its a good thing IE keeps standards.
A variation on the 'how many ... does it take to change a light bulb' joke contains some insight and truth about Micro$oft:Firefox version 2.0.0.3 is our choice here. We also HAVE TO use I.E.-7 at times to run some of the weather analysis software, but since first using Firefox a couple years ago, we have yet to have a "lockup", "blue screen of death", or an "error' report"... that I.E.-7 is famous for.
If Microsoft administration were not so arrogant, perhaps their 'image' in the computing world would be a bit better, however, with their mindset of Global Domination, they have a poor reputation... and getting worse each year. Many persons do not know that the software writers of Microsoft software, including the browser software, often include code in the program that does absolutely nothing, but are private messages back and forth to other software writers as an insider's joke. (I first saw those in Windows 95). Actually, the only 'joke' is Microsoft software...
We used to use Netscape and when that was taken over by the Mozilla Foundation and converted/updated into Firefox, we were pleasantly surprised at the outcome. Nice to see a David and Goliath situation here where a 'little guy' takes on the giant.
