If thorns and thistles didn't appear until after Adam & Eve were evicted from Eden, what else might have gotten a whole lot nastier all of a sudden?
Well, do we actually know that thorns and thistles did not appear till after the fall?
We are told that God planted a garden in Eden and put Adam there. We are not told specifically what grew outside of Eden.
All physical creation is subject to a curse because of the disobedience of Adam and Eve, however, I'm not convinced that the spiritual realm has suffered the same. Satan has certainly messed things up, but I gather the obedient angels and other spiritual entities are otherwise not affected.......but I could be mistaken.
Yes, I agree. I don't think good angels were affected by the fall and remain confirmed in holiness. But the entire human race was certainly affected. Man was rendered dead in trespasses and sins (Eph. 2:1), blind in sin (2 Cor. 4:3-4) and deft in sin (Jn. 8:43, 47).

Yes, paradise became a nightmare once sin was introduced. Pain in childbirth, disease, death, aging, pain, and order was needed in human civilization. None of those features existed prior to the Fall. We are told in Rev. 22:3 that this curse will be lifted in the end and what a great a glorious day that shall be.
