I am saying we don't know anything about the afterlife, and we won't know until we die. What happens after we die, is only speculated. the 1st speculation is the biblical path. That means, if you die right now, and go to God and you choose the path of doubt before you died, and it goes accordingly to the bible, then yeah, you will believe in God because you will personally see God face to face. It's like not believing that a court judge really exist, then you go to court and see the judge in person. You will realize that you were wrong that the judge not existing, but in reality, the judge actually exist and you will believe that the judge exist from that point. If you believe in god before you die, you will go to heaven accordingly to the bible. The 2nd speculation, based on what science says, if you die right now, you just won't exist anymore.

In Truth, we will never know if there is an afterlife or not and we will never know what goes on in the afterlife unless we, ourselves, go to the afterlife.

If the body dies then doesn't the brain die too? How can a person continue to live if everything that made them who they were has ceased to exist?
 
Let's define what is a conscious. A conscious is the output of a meat computer. The conscious isn't the atom themselves but just the output of the atoms working together. A conscious is like a projection off a wall, and whatever the person is made of is the projector. If the projector gets destroyed, we will no longer have the projection.

Yeah, we will never know what goes on the afterlife until we die. If you really want to know what goes on in the afterlife, just wait until after you die naturally, and you will see for yourself what really happens in the afterlife if there is an afterlife. If you die, you just die. It doesn't matter what the bible says, or any other religion says. What really happens in the afterlife CAN ONLY be found out after you die yourself.

He really was. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this, but I believe the reason that was is because the Holy Spirit wasn't dwelling inside of anyone then so any direction had to come directly from God. Now that we have the Holy Spirit after we're saved we don't need God to manifest physically because He's already inside of us. Hopefully someone else can make that clearer or provide some Scripture. I'm fairly certain that it works that way but I still consider myself a new Christian. :)

So someone should do an autopsy on a live christian and they will first hand see God for themselves?

By what mechanism? Without a brain there is no consciousness, so how can a person continue to be/exist after death?
 
You claim it is because He's already inside of us. If he isn't living in me like a parasite, how can you even say he exists in all christians? Anything that has to do with spirits, can only be figured out after the person die themselves. If anyone wants to really figure out what happens in the afterlife, they should just wait until they die themselves. That is the only true way of convincing a person that there is an afterlife.

just wait until after you naturally die. You will find out your answers firsthand. We can give you our speculations but it won't make that a fact. We will never know what will happen after we die. We can only find out what really happens after we die, by dying ourselves. So far, there is no person who came back to life that can tell us what happens in the afterlife. After they die, they just die and just won't return.

I find it hard to believe in an afterlife for many reasons. The primary one being the lack of a mechanism by which my indentity could continue to exist after death.

then don't believe in the afterlife. We will never know if the afterlife is true or not unless we die ourselves. The scripture can be there but that isn't first hand proof of God physically manifesting. If the afterlife is indeed true, then you can investigate on how your identity can still be here firsthand. We can't tell you anything if there is an afterlife or not.

Sinners, people who aren't perfect and good... Which sucks because I'm not perfect :(

Luckily God's son suffered our punishment for us. Which is pretty loving to be honest, considering God is Holy and what not.

If things are evil they need to be punished, kind of like in our world, except we are more excepting of certain evils.
