Revelation 19

  1. Revelation 19:1:
And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:
    Revelation 19:2:
For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.
    Revelation 19:3:
And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.
    Revelation 19:4
And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.

Father God has sent down His righteous judgment on the Great Whore, Babylon, and His judgment is forever. One thing we must all remember is that the Lost Man will know this truth for the first time but God has known the outcome since before time was created and the Christian that has studied to show himself approved has known since a short time after his or her conversion. So it is that we, like the twenty-four elders, the four beasts and all the angels in Heaven willingly fall at the feet oif God in worship.

    Revelation 19:5:
And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.
    Revelation 19:6:
And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.

One of the difficult to understand truths of scripture is illustrated here, there are more humans in Heaven than those that comprise the Bride of Christ. The best explanation of this picture here is found in Matthew 22:2-14 where the parable of the Wedding Feast is began with, ¨The kingdom of heaven is like unto,¨ and goes on to explain that there will be guests at the Wedding Feast in Heaven.

    Revelation 19:7:
Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
    Revelation 19:8:
And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
    Revelation 19:9:
And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

All that are found at this Heavenly event, the Bride, as well as the guests, will remain in Heaven throughout Eternity.

    Revelation 19:10:
And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
    Revelation 19:11:
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
    Revelation 19:12:
His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
    Revelation 19:13:
And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

Here we find the reason for one of my pet peeves. There is an element inside the Church Family today that is concentrating on teaching heresy. One of the, apparent, key points in the New Testament Theology is that God changed. In the Old Testament, these people teach that God was the God of wrath but that when He was born of Mary as a man child He took on a new nature and is no longer the God of wrath. Here we find, in the New Testament, that this is not the case!

Not only does God judge and send sinners to an Eternity in the Fiery Abyss but He also does what they themselves find impossible and makes war. We will never begin to grasp the truths of the New
Testament without the study of the Old because all that occurs in the New is referenced from the Old Testament.

    Revelation 19:14:
And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
    Revelation 19:15:
And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
    Revelation 19:16:
And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

I grew up knowing that life can be and often is tough. It is a lesson that every American needs to come to grips with as has the rest of the world. God/Jesus is not fooled by a soft word from a dictator with the atomic bomb at his disposal and when He leads the Bride, His Army, back here He will come as the concurring King of the worlod.

    Revelation 19:17:
    And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
    Revelation 19:18:
That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
    Revelation 19:19:
And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
    Revelation 19:20:
And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
    Revelation 19:21:
And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

We must take notice of one thing here, God does all of the fighting! Yes, the Army of God is there, following Him, but God, Himself, does all of the fighting.

  2. Bill, did you purposefully jump ch18?
  3. I think you did forget 18 my friend.
  4. I´ll post it in just a moment, sorry.
  5. Thanks Bill.

This is true. What has changed is not the Lord or His nature, but mankind's relationship with Him....that has changed through Christ Jesus.
I believe that now that the saints are gathered together with Christ, all that remains is to put down evil once and for all.
Beginning with Rev 19:11,12,13,14,15,16. John saw a rider on a white horse when heaven was opened. Then, the rider is followed by the armies of heaven compare Jude 1:14 The Rider, Christ, rides forth executing judgement on the inhabitants of the Earth.
Next, in Rev 19:17,18. the stage is set for the destruction of all remaining Human life on earth. Verse 19 tells us that the beast will be here at the close of the age. He along with the false prophet will be captured, removed to wherever the lake of fire is situated and there cast into it. Rev 19:19,20
Finally, Rev 19:21 tells us that the rest, that is the remainder of mankind were killed.

There now remains no legitimate reason why Satan should be left free to do his thing, so beginning with Rev 20, he is imprisoned for a term.

  6. I must disagree with you here and, IMHO Calvin, the rider on the "white" horse is not Christ but instead is the Antichrist. May I list why I believe that to be the case:

    Several things are immediately noticeable:
    1) He rides a white horse. This is commonly used in scripture to identify a conqueror. So it is appropriate to view the Antichrist as a conqueror.
    2) A crow(One)is placed on his head. The Antichrist is either the king of a nation(s), or an elected or appointed head of state(s). Scripture show Christ to have "MANY' crowns.
    3) He rides out to win many battles and gain the victory. The Antichrist goes out into the world with every intention to conquer it and gain victory.
    4) He carries a bow. The Antichrist wields the traditional weapons of war, but in this passage, he is not viewed as using deadly force to conquer (no arrow accompanies his bow).

These give us the perfect opportunity to apply the golden rule of biblical interpretation: “when the plain sense of scripture makes common sense, seek no other sense.” The Bible is clearly telling us that one of the ways in which believers will be able to identify the Antichrist is his ability to conquer the world without using deadly force. But, again, given what we know about history, is it possible to conquer the world without using deadly force?

I also respectfully disagree that ALL remaining life on earth will be destroyed.

    Rev. 19:21.....
"And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh."

The "remnant that were slain" must be the ones that God has gathered together in the Valley of Migeddo for tha lat battle of Armageddon. Notice verse 19...

"and I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and THEIR armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse and against his army".

There is no mention here that any believers who were saved during the Tribulation are present. I believe the Bible is makeing it clear that the forces who OPPOSE the Lamb are the ones "gathered"...NOT the ones who have come to the Lamb for salvation.

Now the question must be WHY is Satan bound for 1000 years?????

That verse tells us that the 1000 year rule of Christ is after Armageddon. The Kingdom is what all the prophets promised and spoke about. IT IS the 1000 year ruke of Christ and there could not be a Millennium which we find in the Scriptures as a time of peace as long as Satan is loose. There can be no peace on the eart and good will toward men until Satan is in the pit, securely locked away so that he can not deceive the nations any more.

Then of course the next question must be again....WHY let him loose???? There can only be one answer that I can think of.

Israel (Jews) will be in their land for 1000 years in "natural bodies'. They will build nouses, plant crops, live in the married life which of course means children.
If we go back to Isaiah 65 & 66 we see that there will be a great multification of people which means that there has to be humans who were saved and they lived through the Tribulation period.

    Isaiah 65:17-25.........
17For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
18But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.
19And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.
20There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.
21And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.
22They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
23They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.
24And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
25The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD".

So then with that as the context we see that at the END of the Millennium there will be millions of humans on the earth who have never been tempted. If God did not permit them to be tempted as were Adam and Eve and You and ME, then God would be a respecter of persons and we know from the Scriptures that He is not (Rom.2:11).

Therefore, all who were born during the Millennium must be tempted. Satan is loosed for a little season and we know from Rev. 20:8-10 that a great multitude from the FOUR CORNERS OF THE EARTH will rebell against Christ because they will be deceived by Satan. That rebellion leads to the 2nd War of Gog and Magog.
  7. Major, thanks for your reply.
    You posted:

Major, you seem to be discussing the rider mentioned in Rev ch6, not the rider mentioned here in ch19, who does indeed have many crowns. Rev 19:12.
Rev 19:18 speaks of 'all men' it does not say 'all men that were at some particular place'; it makes no distinction about geographic location. Some might assume that this is restricted to those at Meggido, but the plain sense of the passage does not support this.
Consider: The armies opposed to Christ are arrayed against Him, who is God with all the Divine attributes. Those include Omniscience, Omnipotence and Omnipresence. We have no need or license even to think of Jesus being restricted to just one place at any given time.
Consider for the moment, Rev 1:7 Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.
Also, Matt 24:26,27. "Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. 27For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be." (My paraphrase: "Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the Valley of Meggido!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the Temple at Jerusalem, standing in the holiest place!’ do not believe it.") He will not be seen out in the desert holding court in a marquee, nor addressing the UN assembly, He will be everywhere at once. His return will be a simultaneous world wide event. I believe Christ's return will be a supernatural intervention in the natural affairs of this world, and not bound by the physical laws we are accustomed to.
Major, you have your view and I mine.
  8. "Major, you have your view and I mine."

Correct my friend. You may be absolutely right.

I am of the belief that the rider in Chapter 6 is the A/C and the rider in Chapter 19 is of course the Lord Jesus Christ.

AS for geographic location I call your attention to : Zech. 12:8-11

In that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the
LORD before them. 9And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. 10And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the
inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and
shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. 11In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of

    Also Rev. 16:15:

15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. 16 And he gathered them together into a place called in
    the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

Interestingly, no place on earth actually bears the name Armageddon, and the above passage is the only mention of it in scripture. The Greek is most commonly thought to be a transliteration of the Hebrew har megiddo, literally, “mountain of Megiddo.” Here is what Strong’s has to say about the word:
    G717 Armageddōn ar-mag-ed-dohn' Of Hebrew origin [H2022] and [H4023]; Armageddon (or Har-Megiddon), a symbolical name: - Armageddon.
Strong's proposes that the Greek word Armageddon originates from the two following Hebrew words:
H2022 har har A shortened form of H2042; a mountain or range of hills (sometimes used figuratively): - hill (country), mount (-ain), X promotion.
H4023 megiddôn megiddô meg-id-done',meg-id-do' From H1413; rendezvous; Megiddon or Megiddo, a place in Palestine: - Megiddo, Megiddon.

Worldwide tele-communications make Rev. 1:7 possible.
