Even the Garden of Eden had a snake

Discussion in 'Holy Spirit Baptism and Living' started by Peter Luke, Aug 4, 2017.

  1. There is nothing more important than to rely on God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
As soon as we shift focus from that, we start playing in the Garden of Eden.

What I mean by the Garden of Eden is that it is not safe as we may think it is, or ought to be.
Even at home, or a Christian forum, or in a church, may seem to be a safe haven . . . until a snake appears.
In all matters, all thoughts, try and rely on the Holy Spirit for guidance through Jesus Christ and God.

Truth is doubtless and loving. If not, you maybe in the Garden of Eden again.

How do you maintain a reliance on the Holy Spirit, God, and Christ?

  2. Psalm 115:16
The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD'S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.

God gave man a lease to this earth that was to be enforced by man through the authority entrusted to him as His representatives or care takers .
Then man sinned in the Garden, that authority was transferred to satan. he was given free reign over the earth because of man's disobedience.
But once and for All, Jesus came to this earth and took back the authority by or through His death via the cross as payment of sin, then man could stand against the wiles or deception of our enemy the devil.

Luke 19:10 says that "Jesus reclaimed all that was lost" in the Garden. Which includes man's sin and all that was lost which includes man's right to rule over earth.

He affirmed this in Col 1:19-20:
"For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross."

    Luke 10:19
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

So for me and my house, we shall serve Thee Lord all of our days growing in the Ways of God through Christ and taking back what was stolen.

Snakes in the garden get trampled and thrown out. Like Paul just shake it off.

  3. Just a technical side note regarding a "snake" in the Garden... Please refer to Revelation 12, especially verse 9, where one of the most common names for Satan is listed... "the serpent." We can then look at Genesis 3:1-20 and see the same name reference.

  4. The word serpent in Hebrew is נחשׁ (nachash) but it also means to practice divination, divine, observe signs, learn by experience, diligently observe, practice fortunetelling, take as an omen

  5. Genesis 3:6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.
  6. [

    Luke 10:19
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

This verse has always been a mystery to me. Could you help me understand this verse? How would the word "hurt" be defined here?
  7. Some translations are far from accurate, so if we look at more than one translation, we can see things more clearly. Remember that Christ had given his disciples basic orders on how to go out in communities to teach His Gospel. Lets expand the entire concept from Luke 10:16-20 for a better understanding of the exchange between the 72 disciples that returned to report to Christ of their successes.

This is taken from the New Living Translation: Luke 10:16-20, 16 Then he said to the disciples, “Anyone who accepts your message is also accepting me. And anyone who rejects you is rejecting me. And anyone who rejects me is rejecting God, who sent me.”

17 When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, “Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!”

18 “Yes,” he told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning!"

19 "Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions* and crush them. Nothing will injure you.

20 But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.”

[* "snakes and scorpions" can be a parable reference to the workers of Satan, or evil spirits, on earth]

  10. Nachash also means to shine, hence satan appeared as an angel of light to Adam & Eve. Adam had just named all the animals. Would he be tempted by a serpent, but an angel of light is another matter. In the wilderness the people were attacked by the fiery serpents, the nachash seraphim, the shiny fiery ones. The Seraphim are guarding the way to the tree of life. Nachash by referring back to Gen 3 becomes serpent.
  11. Nachash, Hebrew for "snake", is also associated with divination, including the verb-form meaning to practice divination or fortune-telling.

if we maintain a close relationship with God - seeking Him first - we can live a Holy Spirit led life

in the prayer groups i am a part of we are now praying to be led by the Holy Spirit in all ways so that God will receive much glory and we will end up doing what God wants us to do

we have been inspired by how the underground church in china could not announce where their next secret worship service was to be held because they kept getting caught by spies/infiltrators - so they had no choice but to each get their instructions of the time and location of the next meeting from the Holy Spirit

we decided that we needed to start living like that to ensure we were following God

we didn't know HOW to do it so we simply prayed and asked God to start leading us in this kind of lifestyle

since we have been doing this - i have had the most unusual experiences of feeling compelled to be somewhere public and low and behold there arrives someone who needs help

others are starting to have the same kinds of experiences

God is also leading me to call on people at their homes at a specific time and low and behold they were needing something right then

this is getting to be awesome fun - we are all getting really blessed and full of joy to be living an increasingly Spirit-led lifestyle

God Bless you my dear friend

  15. When I started reading the book So You Want to Be Like Christ by Chuck Swindoll everything started changing for me. It was actually the book before this one where it all started to change. I am in a bible group in my office. We read / study a book and meet to discuss the book and started praying together. There are 5 of us in my office group. We are all starting to change. We can see differences in all of our lives. Yes, it's fun to see where we are all headed. One girl actually broke up with her boyfriend, but it was led of God. They are both Christians and just one day knew they needed to break up. It's been very interesting to see God moving in our lives.. It's quite exciting.

  16. wow

    awesome testimony

i love hearing how God is working

it's contagious to hear about God's amazing influence in our lives when we get personal/serious about seeking God first

  17. It's kind of funny. When someone asks me a question I respond with the answer IT'S THE BLOOD OF CHRIST... regardless of the question.. hahahhaha

The HS did not tell me to learn and understand the blood for no reason. I find I am so happy and I just want everyone to know what the Blood can do for them. We have it all over us, it covers us... so let's start applying that blood and using it... lol

I want the fullness of God / Christ / HS in my life. This is just one step in getting closer. I think we need to understand everything there is about the holy trinity. Once I understand the blood I am sure God will be leading me to understand more. It's so very exciting. It's like exploring a never ending love. When you get into that love you can get lost in it.... i hope i never find my way out and I stay lost in it all the days of my life until i finally see him face to face.........

  19. I love this! That they had to rely on the HS is really awesome and would most def rule out anyone who is not a Christian!

I would love to learn more about leading a life like this one/

I am trying to be more spirit filled too, and recently made the change to stop watching TV

  20. I only watch tv on the internet now and only to see whats happening in the world.

I've been wondering the area lately and wanting to help homeless people, but am right now just being kind and making small talk.

But I do feel led to help them with anything like food or clean socks and to use my phone and to get a new toothbrush and such....

I want to tell them the good news, but I'm concerned it will be received in bitterness and rejected.
