By His stripes we are healed

1. Not all who are Christians are healed...YET. Do you put a time limit on God?

2. God is grieved when people do not trust Him in His promise for healing. Unbelief is a huge mountain one needs to overcome. A mustard-seed sized faith isn't a metaphor for size of faith but strength of faith, for a tiny mustard seed produces a strong, robust, dense tree that produces.
1. Haha, I can agree with that (y).

2. If it wasn't a metaphor for size why mention the mustard seed and not merely the tree? A tiny seed becomes a big tree. Tiny faith achieves a lot / becomes much more.

A Christian is not capable of unbelief.

1. I never said that Job was cursed. I said that he cursed the day he was born. The thing that he did wrong was worry....and when we worry (which is meditating on something bad is going to happen, ect..) our focus is not on God, but on us or our situation. And how can we resolve it......when we are in faith, then our focus and reliance is on God, and how might He help us out of this or that problem....and then going to God's Word to seek Him and His ways and answers first.

2. In my opinion......a lot of suffering could be avoided if more people understood the promises of God and how to stand on them. And i am NOT talking about being demanding and having a bad or cocky attitude. I'm saying being thankful for all that God does, and has provided or promised. And humbly accepting the truth of the Word of God and trusting God to complete, and act on what He says.

3. What weakness is he talking about? Paul is talking about the weakness of our flesh. And the fact that it is Christ's power (or the power of the anointing) that rests upon us. And thus does the work.

In Ephesians 2:8-9 Paul writes that it is by grace we have been saved through faith; and not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of Works, lest any man should boast. If one really thinks about it...everything that we have comes from God (even John the baptist says that in Jn 3:27). But sooooo many people forget or don't realize that our power comes from God. Healing is from God. The power to heal or cast out devils or even breathe comes from God, not us.

God has created us to be fully reliant upon Him. That is why we cannot claim that we can save ourselves. When someone sins or is addicted to something.....their will power cannot break that sin that is reigning within them. It is by renewing their minds to the fact that God loves them, and that Jesus died on the cross...paying the price for their sins, that has set them free from the things that try to control us. Only as they trust in God and His power to save them, can they be made whole in every way.

Even Jesus said that it is the Father who dwells within me who does the works. Being a Christian is about being totally submitted to God and the Anointing of the Savior. The realization that we need God. And that ONLY as we are engrafted into the vine, can we produce any fruit.

sorry for saying so much...it just kind of flowed out.

1. I don't agree. The reason things went bad for Job are crystal clear Job 1:6-9
6 When the day came for the heavenly beings to appear before the Lord, Satan was there among them. 7 The Lord asked him, “What have you been doing?” Satan answered, “I have been walking here and there, roaming around the earth.” 8 “Did you notice my servant Job?” the Lord asked. “There is no one on earth as faithful and good as he is. He worships me and is careful not to do anything evil.” 9 Satan replied, “Would Job worship you if he got nothing out of it? 10 You have always protected him and his family and everything he owns. You bless everything he does, and you have given him enough cattle to fill the whole country. 11 But now suppose you take away everything he has—he will curse you to your face!”

2. If you are referring to the promise to look after us / God is good Matt 6:26, Psalm 136:1, I agree. But if you are referring to specific promises like healing and what not, I disagree. We know God is God. He can do anything. The idea of a son needing to know and hold onto His promises for specifics is ridiculous. Playing Christianity VS being a Christian.

3. I agree and no need to say sorry for long post. I appreciate the effort from you . What confuses me though is that you believe that way and then hold to the need to hold to the promise of healing. It makes no sense.

Sin is one of many reasons for sickness. David is alluding to this in Psalm 103:3.

"Sin" is the only reason for sickness. If there was no sin in the world there would be no sickness. Get rid of the sin, and you will get rid of the sickness.
All sickness is the results of a spiritual condition. Get rid of the spiritual condition, and the sickness goes away. This is exactly what Jesus taught.

Act 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Luk 13:16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

Luk 5:23 Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?

Jesus's death on the cross healed a spiritual condition which in turn heals a physical condition. Do we still sin after becoming Christians? Yes we do. What happens if we do? Sickness can be a sign of sin in our lives. Now what? We are to confess our sins, so God will "cleanse" us from all unrighteousness. What if we wont confess our sins? Get ready to go to the doctor, because you just open the door for the Devil to cause trouble in your life. The early Church had this problem, and the Apostle Paul warned them about, and how to fix it.

1Co 11:26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.
1Co 11:27 Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord.
1Co 11:28 Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
1Co 11:29 For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself.
1Co 11:30 That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died.
1Co 11:31 But if we judged ourselves truly, we would not be judged.

Eating and drinking of the Lords cup in a unworthy way is by not discerning the Lords body in how he brought spiritual healing and physical healing to his Church. This is why a lot of them in the Church were sick, and ,many of them died!!!!

if i may...i would like to respond to some of your questions.

1. Sin being defeated on the cross was instant. Our sins washed away is instant. Us assuming He died for bodily healing as He did for our sins....suggests the dead obvious does it not?
Even though sin was conquered and our sins were washed away on the cross does not mean that our natural sin nature does not try to be in control, (Gal. 5:1617) Our spirits and our natural nature are constantly at war. The reason why Paul encourages us (in Romans 12:2) to renew our minds is because there is still a war taking place within us. We need to renew our minds to God's ways (feeding our spirits), so that the mind can know what those ways are and what is said, and thus can make the decision to tell our body to submit to the spirit. But those things have to be developed. It is not automatic. Just because we accept Christ as Lord and savior and we are given a new spirit, does not mean that our sin nature is conquered. JESUS conquered sin on the cross, it is defeated.....but each individual person must accept that salvation and then walk it out every day. We have to train our flesh just like we have to train our child to walk.

2. If its God's absolute will / something He died for....then why is any Christian sick in the first place? The enemy (devil) is constantly seeking someone he can devour. Christians are not immune from that. Because we are all human and make mistakes...we get into strife, or unforgiveness, or whatever kind of sin. And according to James 3:16 where there is envy and strife...there is evil work. So that means that as we sin (it can be as small as allowing oneself to be frustrated and speak unkind things about our spouse, or not showing our neighbor love...but snapping at them or being harsh) we open the door for the devil to bring symptoms of the flu or whatever.

There is another side to symptoms. The enemy comes along and whispers in your ear that the cough that you have is really something more serious......if we do not know that we don't have to listen to that (because we have not been renewing our minds with the Word of God) then we will accept that sickness into our mind and body. BUT, if we have been reading our scriptures and meditating on those scriptures have become confident that God's desire is for us to remain well. And we know that according to Matthew 16:19 & 18:18 Jesus says that He will give us the keys to the kingdom: whatever is bound on earth is bound in heaven, then we can bind that sickness and then trust that Is 54:17 (no weapon formed against us shall prosper).....all of these scriptures build our faith and trust that what God's Word says is true. That is why God instructs us to meditate (which means to mutter to oneself) because Romans 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

Just because one believes in God, and His ability to perform miracles....does not mean that one trusts what God's Word says.

blessings!
1. I agree with this. But again, how you believe this and then as you do with healing baffles me. Renewing our mind to the mind of Christ is becoming more heavenly minded. We are less mindful of material possessions and the flesh's constant drama. We enter a peace that surpasses all understanding. Where no matter what is happening, we know and trust that our lives are in God's hands. We cannot think we live for ourselves. Claiming prosperity for ourselves and to a degree healing is selfish / complete opposite to submission to God.

2. In my humble opinion you are not talking about renewing our minds. You are referring to self induced brainwashing / positive confession. We don't fight the devils thoughts of sickness, we fight sin. Yes, sin can cause sickness. No, sin and the devil are not to blame for all illness.

i was healed of a stomach problem at the age of 18. It was during a healing portion of a service by a visiting evangelist. I had no belief or faith i would be healed. i was healed nontheless. saying all healing requires faith and that all sickness is a result of sin condemns a lot of children in hospitals right now. children are blameless before the Lord and not subject to anyone's belief paradigms. the Lord will heal whom He will and save whom He will.
Later, after i reached adulthood, i asked the evangelist about healing. He said he never knew who would be healed and who would not. He said it wasn't up to him, but up to the Lord. He said some who seemed to have all the faith in the world received no healing, while many who had no faith received a healing.
God is GOD and He is SOVEREIGN.

1. All sickness can be traced to the sin of Adam. As can many other changes that took place on earth. But what you are proposing is that we can return to the time before Adam sinned / heaven on earth scenario. You apply this example to healing but not old age? Why do we age if we are cured of sin? Why do lions still want to eat us if we have no sin? Why can't we fly to heaven like Jesus?

Sorry but that point does not make mine redundant. Smoking speeds up aging. Working on skyscrapers shortens life expectancy. Walking in a marsh makes you sick. Jumping off a roof top breaks legs. Driving recklessly causes painful accidents.

2. I agree that we can do what Jesus did and will do greater things then Him. But that does not mean we are God. Jesus knew who would be healed and who would not. Jesus did not heal all. He healed all who came His way / whose way He came. But a good precedent is set here. That is that all who have afflictions from the devil can receive instant healing. Of course we would just need to be mindful of Matt 12:45.

3. I agree. This is why many die. Why many are sick. Not all.

Who in their right mind would want to live forever in these physical bodies? Not me!! When a person becomes a new creation in Christ Jesus, it is their heart that becomes new not their soul, or body. We are told to save our souls, by taking heed to the Word of God, and we are also told to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to God. God does nothing with our soul, or body, that is our responsibility. Both saving the soul, and healing the body comes about by using the same thing which is the Word of God. If we never apply the Word then it will not get done. When healing is applied using the Word of God, it is the Word that does the healing not man!

Jas 1:21 Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

Rom 12:1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

***Sickness and disease is NEVER God's will. ***

Ahem

I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.
- Deuteronomy 32:39

Actually sickness and disease is in NO ONE else's hands

See the Book of Job, chapters 1 & 2 for further details

Agreed and I have said just that on this thread!

It really does seem simple doesn't it? It boggels the mind how we can mess up these simple things!

May I make a small suggestion ? Simply move back to some of the earlier decades you lived in. Kind of like moving back into the house you were raised in. Well I can say this for you, your typing sure does not show those decades. ; )
Blessings
Jim

How would moving back in time help me Jim? I would still have the same information because time does not alter the truth of God's Word.

My typing may not reveal my age but you should see me in a mirror.

Just a quick question regarding the statement "The elders will act just like the disciples". Are we all not disciples? After all what is a disciple, except someone who is being taught?

Of course that is correct. Elders is another term for "leadership" or "authorized".

So you agree with going to a doctor? Doesn't it show a lack of faith?

No, there is no lack of faith in one who trust God for healing, and that He uses medical science to gain it, OFTEN. those who believe God wants someone sick is violating God's will by seeing a doctor, though, if what they believe is true---which it isn't.

Hello Major,
It is so good sitting in front of this tablet once again. I totally agree with the first part of what you were talking about. The only way man can lay hands on some one and see a healing is if God works through the man. It is always God and always by God or through God for man is and only can be the instrument used.

For the other ( Isaiah ) I will have to do more studying over that one. I mean I still beleive it is a physical healing........but just because I beleive does not make me right. Thanks for yout time Major
Blessings
Jim

And I agree completely with you. If there is a question between what I say and what the Bible says, allways go with the Bible!!!!!

Jim, I encourage you to dig deeper and then be satisfied with what the Word tells you.

I only offer another thought on what the same thing says to me and that does not make me right either.

Euphemia, you have to understand that it is the word '''promise''' that I have a problem with. Where does God promise us healing?

If we are well with God. Our bodies will be well. Our mental state will be good. Our aura's will be glowing.

Our bodies being well does not always equal being healed. A paraplegic will likely stay a paraplegic. Sickness from depression will go. Sickness from always dwelling on evil will go. Sickness from the devil will go. But sickness we bring upon ourselves are all debatable.

We cannot blanket all sickness and hold God to a ''promise''.

God can and does do miracles for us. A paraplegic walking is a miracle. But you have to try understand something very important!!! A Christian who loves Jesus is already walking in full provision. Which means if someone who loves Jesus is not well....it IS God's will. Nothing else. God is not partial that He would meet the needs of only His favorite.

Where in all the word does God say He afflicts the righteous with disease?

God's word says:
Psalm 103:3
He forgives all my sins
and heals all my diseases.

THAT'S A PROMISE!

Jesus never spoke once of unwillingness to heal, and He was able to heal ALL who would come to Him in faith believing for it, and that included those who had faith for others who could not communicate faith. the only time He was unable to heal was when there was unbelief. It works the same way today. Unbelief is a hindrance to healing.

1. Nobody wants to keep their sickness. I don't see anyone suggesting that here.

To many, their physical maladies are a security blanket. To others, it is a financial problem to suddenly be well, so they will turn down a touch from God and keep their sickness. It does happen.

"Sin" is the only reason for sickness. If there was no sin in the world there would be no sickness. Get rid of the sin, and you will get rid of the sickness.

You said................
"All sickness is the results of a spiritual condition.

"Then why do we see so many infants dieing with cancer these days??

What sin could a two year old be guility of?????

Now, if that childs parents were sitting across from you looking YOU in the eye and asking you for encouragement and answers......is that what you would tell them????????

1. How does it not take more faith? I am sure every ill person in the world will disagree with you here.
2. We have faith sufficient for salvation, why the need to mention faith for healing?
3. We can't serve Him if we are sick? He does not want doctors and nurses saved? What about being in a wheel chair? Does that count?
4. Amen!
5. What are you alluding to? Do you have scripture for that line? That makes absolutely no sense to me. Lines like that are the reason for this thread!!

1. Why would it require MORE faith to serve God in illness than in health? Faith isn't quantitative. It's qualitative. either one trusts God and believes in His word, or he doesn't---sick or well.

2. Faith is faith. It brings us salvation as well as healing.

3. Yes, we are able to serve God while sick---in faith believing we are overcomers, and that healing is coming. Speaking words of faith and belief will not hinder our healing, but hurry it along. However, God wants the Body of Christ well, physically so that they can do all he calls them to do without any hindrances. Sickness is the result of Satan's games and also simply the consequences of living in a fallen world. We do not have to be deterred by it, but God's perfect plan for us is to be well so we can follow His will with exuberance and vitality. People who are disabled have other forms of ministry that the able-bodied have. There is room for them in the Kingdom!

5. Seeing as we have the promise of health in our born again spirits---according to:
Ephesians 1:3
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.

...all we need do is appropriate our healing from the spiritual promise to the physical. Rebuke and command.
