To Jeff: I Thought This Was A ''friendly'' Christian Forum...?

I genuinely HOPE He is. I've known some doctrines that I would rather have nothing to do with.

Beloved, it is best not to listen to ALL doctrine. Read the Bible, and the doctrine that the Lord Jesus taught His apostles and prophets: if any doctrine does not conform to that of the Lord's apostles and prophets, it can be discarded.

so I say if a Protestant does it one way, and a Catholic does it another way ..
both are correct if done in love for God ..

this is akin to a child giving his mother a dandelion ..
it is NOT the dandelion that matters .. but the spirit in which it is given ..

I would say it largely depends. While I"m tempted to say yes, my real answer is more that I don't disagree. The differences between Protestant and Catholic in my mind is much more about mode and means and less about doctrine.

simply put .. if your heart cries "Abba Father" ..
whatever denomination you are .. then you love God ..
and He in no way casts out those who endure in His love ..

Beloved, the Apostle Paul best describes the Gospel in I Cor. 15:1-4. It is the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is what brought us repentance, remission of sins in the waters of baptism when the NAME of the Lord was invoked over the believer, and gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit. That, in essence, is the beginning of the Christian walk.

exactly .. that is the GOOD NEWS .. redemption available ..
the word Gospel (euaggelizō) means "good news" ..

simply put .. if your heart cries "Abba Father" ..
whatever denomination you are .. then you love God ..

Denominational doctrine is rarely a major issue. If you think about it, the requirements for Salvation and Christian living are nearly identical across nearly all denominations. The ones that break THOSE rules are cast into the definition of "cult". How do we determine those rules? Well, the early attempt was the Apostolic Creed. There are several version, mostly to reflect a few minor differences in the way people think, but largely they all agree on the central points. Any religion that doesn't agree on those points is not part of Christianity. Any religion that makes a way to Heaven through another means that does not require Jesus Christ is not part of Christianity. To my knowledge, which is informed by somewhat limited, the Catholic Church and the Protestant Churches all serve the same God and believe in the same Salvation.

There are a few side denominations which tend to fall into the cult status, but I honestly don't know enough about them to understand why. Those would include JW, Mormon, and possibly some of the Oneness churches, and maybe the SDA. Some consider them brothers in Christ, others call them cults. For the purposes of this site, so long as they proclaim Jesus and do not attempt to undermine the central teachings of the Bible, or profess another person or book above the Bible, then they should be welcome here.

Beloved, look at the testimony of Cornelius.
He was a "...devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always." Was Cornelius "saved"? If he was, then he would not have needed to heed the angel's word to send for Peter. But because Cornelius needed salvation, the Lord remembered him and sent him Peter, and "...while Peter yet spoke these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all them that heard the word." What word? The Gospel! And just is the Gospel that Peter preached? It is,
"Repent, and be baptized everyone of you in the NAME of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is unto you...".
What promise? The promise of grace. What gift? "For by grace are you saved through faith; and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God." The gift is the Holy Spirit that is given by grace.

Cults are those who do not believe in the Gospel. Many denominations that call themselves "christians" are borderline "cults".

the "free gift" is God making salvation available when he did not have to ..
hence "grace/compassion" by God to us ..

Then let me clarify, I don't know why many consider those particular denominations to be cults. They all have some "extra" beliefs. In some cases, I find them very odd and disturbing. But I wouldn't really consider them cults either.

There it is! The gospel according to "ixoye".
You are reading the scripture differently than I. "For whosoever calls upon the NAME of the Lord shall be saved."
You see, Beloved: I see the promise. It is found in the words shall be. You, along with most denominations with whom I have spoken read that scripture: "For whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord is saved." There is quite a leap from shall be saved to is saved.
Now there is: "He that comes to me, I will in no wise cast out." In order for both scriptures to be true, they must not contradict each other: but must draw a parrallel.
How does a man come to the Lord? By being drawn to Him by the Father.
What happens when the Father draws a man? The man either repents, or walks away in his own imagination.
What happens when a man repents? He is offered remission of sins
What happens when a man's sins are remitted? He receives the promise of the Father, which is the Holy Spirit.

But don't you think that would be kind of judgmental? Why not just accept the person for the religion they choose to follow? Why not just let them be, I personally think that everyone is entitled to worship how they please, I'm not one to push my believes on anyone. The way I see it is once you worship god, how you worship or how you wish to see god, it's an individual choice. There's only one god and religion is men made anyway. So why not just allow people to be who they are, accept them as they come, answer questions they might have and leave the rest to god.

But then we (Christians) would have to set aside the words of the Lord Jesus to appease the non-believers!

there it is .. a confused account of my beliefs according to Candelario Mario Villa ..
I read scripture the same as all do ..
"For whosoever calls upon the NAME of the Lord shall be saved."
You see, Beloved: I see the promise. It is found in the words shall be.

I agree with you .. why do you think I do not ???
I have reiterated over and over Jesus' words ..
"who endure to the end WILL BE SAVED" ..

That is surely a prophecy: first to the apostles, and also to those who would believe later. In effect, it is a prophecy to those who are saved.
