Putting my Christmas poems and scribblings away I found this Very much tongue in cheek scribbling
Why?
Who’s eyes am I looking through?
Why couldn’t the birth of Jesus be celebrated some other time of the year?
It spoils Christmas celebrations,
pass another beer,
It’s so confusing mixing baby Jesus
With holly and mistletoe,
And what has Jesus birth got to do with robins and snow?
And while you’re getting your head around ‘Good King Wenceslas’
How would they fill the t.v. Schedule
Without the tradition of the showing of White Christmas
And what has the Kings Speech todo with Christmas Day?
while we’re on the subject
Why do they spoil Easter egg hunts and hot cross buns,
With celebrating the crucifixion of the Son of God?
Lent wouldn’t be so long and would be easier to abstain
If they didn’t hang it on to religious holidays
And one more thing…
Can’t they move one of the religious celebrations to the end of summer so that bank holidays would be more evenly spread?
Hatch match and dispatch Christmas and Easter
Along with harvest home, surly enough times being churched to pay my dues?

When a quick emergency
Hail Mary will do?
Is there a reason for all this God bothering?
Or have I missed the point?
