What to Do in the Middle of a Storm
Matthew 7:24Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
Both men heard the word and the same storm came against both of them (verse 25 & 27). Have you ever heard anyone say that going through the storm makes you strong? Were both of these men made strong? No. We can see there was a completely different outcome.
Everyone goes through storms and trials, so if that was true everyone would be strong. But all are not strong. Some are depressed, devastated, defeated, become alcoholics, commit suicide. These storms come to destroy them and it did destroy one man. It didn’t come to bless them.
John 10:10The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may havelife and have it abundantly.
So what was the difference in these two men? One just heard the word of God but the other one did what he heard. Its not the storm itself that makes us strong. Its what we do in the middle of a storm that makes the difference. Act on that Word you just heard. Faith without works (action) is dead (James 2:20).
James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
The enemy doesn't care how much we hear the Word as long as we don't do it. We won't be any threat to him or his kingdom.
God's Word is a rock solid foundation. Stand on it firmly and do as it says.
