Tormented mind
The battle’s in the heavenlies
It’s colours every thought I have…
The torment of things past,
Like a tsunami, come flooding in
taking control of my mind
Things I fight to remember
Things I’d rather forget
Things I regret but can’t change
Once lost in the past…
All come back to haunt me
Fighting for conscious thought,
Convincing me that I’m unworthy
of the cross
Not putting my hand to the plough and looking back,
but,
Exhausted by fighting for control of this battle in my head
Oh how I long to have a rest
Hide in the cleft of the rock
But I just can’t get away
From this battle
for control of thought
Sites, people, places all remind me,
Of things in the past
Satan, like a thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.
Sowing seeds of doubt
Fights to control your mind
All these past things, he reminds me of are part of my past,
But,
Are now covered by the cross
washed away
By Jesus blood
No longer to live in condemnation
I’m a child of the living God !
He forgot to mention that
But right at this moment
Lord,
I could do with a big hug!
