Grumpy old man #100?
Why buy strawberry’s out of season?
Ok, they look tempting ,
That bright red colour
Enticing to bite,
But there’s the rub
Where’s the juice, the flavour?
nothing to run down your chin, when you take a bite
So disappointing like biting into an apple no flavour so hard they crunch
And if you leave them out to soften
They go from hard to mouldy
No where in between,
Why didn’t I wait for the real thing
TIL the right time and season
When the real strawberries are great?
The smell, the taste is heavenly
soft and juicy, dribbling down your chin
I’ll just have do with sugar on my corn flakes til strawberry season comes round,
Once tasted there’s no substitute
Forced to ripen out of season
Just doesn’t work
There are reasons for seasons
They may look like the real thing but,
Taste and see that the Lord is good
so psalm 34:8 says
