Socialising - what does it mean?

Some things to think about and discuss. How social are you -
Are you good at organising outings, events, meetings and parties etc or do you just wait to be invited.

Just wondering.
Are you a good host or would rather be the guest?

Do you enjoy small groups or larger groups?
Or are you more of an individual who does their own thing/ keeps to themselves.

When people say they hate socialism, are they meaning they just hate being part of a group and would rather be private.
When people say they aren't part of society..don't they just mean they aren't rich or well-connected? Apparently only 400 people could be on New York's social register because that's how many people could fit into the Astor's ballroom.

What is your take on 'social distancing'.

What do you think a 'social worker' does?

What do you think of 'social media'?

Have you been to a 'social'. Do you like them or loathe them. Or are you anti-social?

No right or wrong answers...just different perspectives. Does the Bible ever mention how God wants people to be together or apart?

hmmm, good questions....

God said we are to come together, in fellowship. the trouble with me is I am not surrounded by many christians. (except here). my family and friends are kind of liberal people( not sola scriptura) and im leaning more toward a more sola Scriptura conservative type christanity, and that don't always go down well, so I pray for how best to voice my concerns with my family and friends. so my socialising is not as free as it used to be., or as fun loving for that matter.

I think of being social as being with people outside your own family or your household.

I remember we all had to take 'social studies' in school as a subject and even doing one year of 'social science' which is basically studying people, and how different communities around the world worked.

Some churches are even called 'community' churches ( as opposed to what...private churches?) but I know that 'communism' can be a dirty word for some. Even though the Lords supper is called 'communion' as its basically shared with other people.

Hello Lanolin;

I'm a joiner and outgoing. It's always been who I am. Hazel and I have enjoyed hosting and being guests to small or large groups.

There are those times when we do retreat to be alone. It's important to have those moments to get refreshed with ourselves.

You asked;
What is your take on 'social distancing'.
To respond as a Christian, I have always been open to social closeness to all peoples and have learned that I don't always have to share my views and opinions. Listening is a great tool for social closeness and at some point Jesus always makes a way for me to share my testimony no matter the topic.

What do you think a 'social worker' does?
A social worker helps people manage their lives in so many different circumstances. Unfortunately, the ones who feel they're good at their job could go alot further if they understood the gospel and faith that Jesus is a people person and we can emulate His ministry no matter the social issue.

What do you think of 'social media'?
I spend more time praying for instead of condemning the blindness of social media. In the last 33 years social media has evolved in unqualified opinionated, dogmatic statements and reporting, instead of the basic principles of journalism and accountability in reporting with an effort of accuracy, objective, impartial, being truthful.

Have you been to a 'social'. Do you like them or loathe them. Or are you anti-social?
Yes. We always make the most of our social gatherings and rarely have they gone bad.

Socializing takes on a wide meaning but this is my personal experience in my lifetime.

God bless you, Lanolin, and Merry Christmas.

I sort of think of 'social media' as just another word for gossip, but trying to make like it's a legit form of news. I mean it is news obviously for some people but its not like a journalist has done a thorough investigation.
