Sabbath 5/11/19 Seventh Day Baptist Edgewater Pastor Keith sermon “Eve, Wife and Mother”

Sabbath 5/11/19 Seventh Day Baptist Edgewater Pastor Keith sermon “Eve, Wife and Mother” Titus 2:1-6

The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother. Eve was the first mother in the earth. She was created by God, a perfect woman that could help Adam. God said Adam couldn’t be alone so he needed Eve. There was no one on the earth that could take her place to be with Adam. Eve was the completion of God’s masterpiece. Man is not complete until he is married. Jesus said let a man leave his parents and get married to a wife.

Eve had to learn from scratch how to be a mother because she had no mother to teach her. Adam and Eve had to learn parenthood from scratch also. Their first son Cain killed their second son. Cain killed his brother Abel. Their third son Seth was a good kid like Abel was. Eve was a woman just like any woman here. She was a sinner who made bad choices. Eve was a good child of God until she started listening to a new friend. Eve listened to their Lie, bit into it and lost her home in the Garden of Eden. She also passed her sin down to all of us. The choice Eve made seemed to undermine God’s plan for her descendants. As parents we all make bad decisions but Eve did teach her children about God because Cain and Abel made sacrifices to God.

God didn’t make the family so that the mother has to raise the children by herself. Being a Mom is hard work. God expected Adam and Eve to work together to raise the children. Studies show that the majority of juvenile delinquents come from a family without a father in the home. Fathers should back up the mother’s decisions concerning the children. A godly husband should step up and protect his wife.

God still loved Eve after she messed up. God clothed Adam and Eve after their sin. God still loved them and clothed their nakedness with animal skins. There was an animal that had to die for God to get the skins from. God did the first sacrifice to cover sin. God offered the last sacrifice to cover sin when He offered Jesus Christ for us.
Amen
