2 Timothy 4:10 For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.
Demas a very close minister with Paul while we dont exactly know what caused Demas to leave Paul. it says having loved this present world . one might say he chose the pleasures of sin for a season . how many do we know that have and is playing the role of Demas. they may not be ministers but former Church members .
they no longer have the want to and desire to go to Church nor serve the Lord .
i am not a writer so lets be clear i speak not write.. ( let the English police take note before trying to correct my grammar ! } in the book of psalms it is written one thing i have desired
Psalm 27:4-6
4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.
5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
6 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.
if a person is truly saved they will one attend Church 2. have a want to and a desire . you see Church is more than just sitting in a pew. singing a few songs listening to a message. Church is much like a medical diet for our health . one example as a diabetic we are told what type food to eat not eat. the amount we can eat. yes most of the time we ( i go astray with the diet) if not careful it can be just like playing Russian roulette spin the chamber pull the trigger . only one bullet in the cylinder of the pistol . yes i realize most pistols' are not that away today.
but we get the picture one might say i dont need Church to be a CHRISTIAN your right. one doesnt need t eat good home cooked meals to survive. but it sure helps this world is full of silver and gold and sparkly things. much like Achan who took the barbaloin vest and the bars of Gold . why did he need it it was attractive it looked good to the eyes..
the prodigal son was attracted to the world . tolod his dad he was tired of living by his rules asked for his inheritance.. took off to far country , he blew all his money . ended up sloping the pigs and eating with them.
then he came to his sense and went home.
this world has nothing to offer us .yes we think it does Hollywood movie stars sadly in closing there are many Demas in the world many we know personally. john the baptist said HE (Jesus) must increase i must decrease . just think of it this way what Judas didnt know he repented of himself. threw the coins down he got for betraying Christ and hung himself .
