Jesus tells the 12

Discussion in 'Bible Study' started by Dusty, Jan 14, 2009.

  1. Jesus tells the 12

    Matthew 10: 5-7

These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: "Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans.
6....Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel.
7.....As you go, preach this message: 'The kingdom of heaven is near.'

Why do you suppose that Jesus told the disciples to only tell Israel ..... God's lost sheep ? Why did He not say to tell the Gentiles or Samaritans ?

As I was reading this came to mind . Jesus had such compassion upon the Jewish people of that time that He wanted them to know about Him and the Kingdom of Heaven, first. Also because God has chosen Israel as His chosen race , He wanted them to be sure and know the truth first.

And that Jesus was following His Father's will .

    Any other thoughts ?
