Full armour of God…
Stepping out in faith?
So I’ve got my Breastplate of Righteousness,
Shield of Faith,
Helmet of Salvation,
the Sword of the Spirit.
And something for my feet!
But it says nothing about water wings just in case…
I fear I won’t be able to walk on water,
Like Peter did.
I dipped my toes in the waters of faith, liked it
found the waters fine
plunged right in…
Baptised, full Immersion
Even though I could not swim
But stepping out from the safety of a boat
To walk on water
to meet Jesus on the waves,
Sounds daft, illogical
Why put my faith to this test like this?
It goes against all reason
People say “don’t do it
You’ll drown”
But my heart wants to
step out faith
See miracles first hand.
Should I start simple?
Splash in puddles
Body board to the shore?
Make sure the water is calm
Make sure it’s only a short distance and Jesus,
He hasn’t gone and wandered off?
And there’s life buoys to hand?
If I want to sore like eagles
And all those other things the bible says I could
Is it most important to know it’s Jesus calling me
To step out in faith
To know it’s His masters voice!
Else
Make sure I am wearing water wings
And they are blown up real good
Learn to doggy paddle, cos
If it’s not Jesus calling you
To step out of the boat
You’ll only get cold and wet, and,
It’s a long way back to the shore and solid ground.
