Concerned For Our Response To Politics

Discussion in 'General Discussions' started by JohnC, Aug 6, 2014.

  1. Hey guys,

First off - please know that this is NOT in reaction to anything posted on this board....

This is more a reaction of what I feel like is "Percolating" within many Christian communities right now.... and it worries me A LOT....

I am currently VERY concerned with this growing undercurrent of "Revolutionary talk" among Christians... While I totally agree that our country is headed in the wrong direction... I truly feel violent revolution is 100% the WRONG answer!

The "Slow decline" that has been going on within society is reaching what seems to be a critical mass... And... It is alarming a LOT of people... and they want to BLAME the current crop of politicians for getting us here....

They forget that what got us here is almost 100 years of relentless "Silent activism" on one side... Coupled with 100 years of "Silent acquiescence" on the other side.....

Unfortunately, "Quick solutions" like Revolution NEVER work out as intended.... In fact, since the Civil Authorities are BOUND to stop Violence - Revolution would GUARANTEE the Civil Authorities would crush us....

You can't fight Moral Decay with Violence..... Doesn't work.... You have to "Fight" Moral Decay with Jesus....
Eph 6:12 - Our fight is not against Flesh and Bone, but against Principalities, against Powers, against Rulers of Darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places....

What we have forgotten is that this sort of "Revolution" really starts within churches....

    Preach Jesus
Help people learn how to OVERCOME sins in their lives holding them back
    Teach Relying on God
Teach the scriptures - the Whole Thing from Genesis to Revelation...
    Teach Contentment
Build and Train up godly lay members within the church
Encourage people to actually GO AND DO service...
Enable Members to be active in THEIR calling....
Root out apostate and ungodly church leadership that prevents all of the above....

Guess what happens when people start Overcoming?
God takes over and "Moral Decay" becomes so much less enticing....
God takes over and Addictions are conquered....
Kids humble themselves and become more cooperative with parents....
Parents humble themselves and become better parents
Couples humble themselves and save their marriages....
    etc....

    Scripture...
    Romans 13
    Titus 3
    Matt 22:15-22

    God is Love likes this.
  2. Greetings:
I can see why God held onto the Jews,Christians are skipping over the verses with...be a man....

    bye

The craziness is just getting started i'm betting.

  5. If we do nothing what future are we leaving for our kids? If we do nothing the next leader will be a Nero # 2. We are charged to look after and protect our kids and family. My kid will be arrested at some schools in the near future for his beliefs.

A revolution does not tackle those in our field / where God has placed us / ''our'' calling. It tackles the leaders / authorities passing immoral laws. That is a place we all need to contribute to. I am in favor of anti immoral law rallies for example.

Any ideas on what kind of revolution is being talked about? Nothing happening at my church :(.

  6. Lol, now I am thinking about a revolution :giggle:.

Where do we sign up? Which parliament building we storming?

I want Christian school fees to come off my taxes!!

  7. Part of that moral decay is in the churches themselves

From its approval of slavery in the 1790's to the backing of political parties now; the churches are within the ranks of the unclean.

Until there is revolution in the churches, there can be no support for revolution in politics.

  8. See... First and foremost.. Our leaders have sworn to defend our "Nation" against enemies - foreign and domestic....

When we support violent revolution - we become an "Enemy" of the civil authorities.... At this point, they are required to destroy us....
And don't fool yourself about being active in large "Protest" movements.... You get put on watch lists... because they know that at some point - Protests turn violent....

Now... On "Anti-Immorality Rallies".... see... being AGAINST immorality is not the same thing as being FOR Christ.... Remember the "Success" of Temperance and it's associated Constitutional amendment.... That was a complete catastrophe - and it gave Churches a bad black eye and ruined the lives of many good people - they made their stand holding firm on the Traditions of Men, associating Legalism with Virtue, rather than focusing on the Gospel of Jesus....

See... That's why the Gospel and Message of Christ is so unique.... Our enemy is NOT the civil authorities and we need to remember this....

  9. I must agree that your caveat to eschew violence comes from a place of scriptural wisdom, yet may I ask; “What criterion must exist to justify a revolution, or is all revolutionary activity unjust?”

Can there be a moral and just premise for a society to defend itself from a despotic hellion in power, or should society remain passive to complete destruction? Yet also, what of secular society versus the Body of Christ, are ethical requirements the same, and what rules will differentiate, if any?

What is the “ethical” position in scripture for self-defense or is there one? Are the rules the same for society as for the individual, and then also to threaded specificity, are the rules the same for the individual Christian and Body of Christ at large?

Are not ethical rules of engagement complex from scripture and can it be that application is most critical?

Please forgive my chronic questioning and know that I enjoy greatly your elaboration for discussion.

Which sides are you referring to?

What silent activism and acquiescence are you referring to?

I will agree with you readily that the political state is historically supreme in power almost always to crush its own to destruction. Can 190 million democidal deaths in the twentieth century alone cause us all to pause?

Is it possible that secular society is not “bound contractually” to refrain from common self defense, but the Christian is “bound contractually” as the property of our master to suffer persecution in variance with obedience for strategic gains in the spirit? For our demonstration of love in the natural is a just and violent victory against devils in the spirit that first moved to despotic violence against us all.

  10. I would agree with you for the most part, brother. However, there are too many people that just brush spiritual warfare under the rug and/or have no idea what spiritual warfare is nor how to equip themselves. Why do people think that the prince of the air is a formidable foe when he cowers in the name of Jesus? Why are we not using to tools given to us through Grace to combat these issues? My opinion, too many people are still stuck in the flesh, letting it run their lives instead of the Lord Almighty.

Alang and God is Love say Amen and like this.
  11. Yet they do not protect from the domestic threats.

In the US they froze the accounts of Arab terrorists and supporters. But not IRA, nor Aleph or the KKK.

So they are inconsistent and a danger to the citizens of The Republic.

I am not for carnal war, but they do need to be replaced.

    And in many nations.

  12. Perhaps you should make a post questioning techniques on waging a war of spirit?

  13. Hmmm, where to start. There's a lot to cover in this OP.

If there is an undercurrent of "revolutionaries" in the Christian church I haven't seen or heard of them.
You have probably been exposed to the ranting of a few loudmouths, the type that talk much and do little.
From where I stand, the modern church is completely taken over by complacency and a overwhelming desire for comfort at any cost.
How can you start a revolution when the NFL season is just starting? I mean, get real. Where are your priorities?

We have a despot that calls himself president. A congress that cannot accomplish anything of value. A banking-military-industrial complex
that believes it IS the government. And to top it off, the most dumbed down, lazy, complacent, media-sotted populace the world has ever seen.

This will end badly. This country is rotting from within and will continue to do so until there is total collapse.
Those that survive the mess will hopefully have learned something and rebuild with a more sensible model.

  14. The rot goes back to 1789.

It started with the document that disallowed non-caucasians, women and people that did not hold land to vote.
As well as upholding slavery and aboriginal destruction.

It was fallen and rotten from the onset.

But ALL nations are fallen and consort with the enemy.

  15. Questioning techniques? Can you expound on this, please.

  16. There are techniques that we can employ on spiritual war.

It would be nice to have a thread dealing in the question of what they are and how to use them.

Call it a martial book of spiritual weapons.

  17. I agree. I'll see if I can put something simple but substantive together to get things started in the next day or so. Good idea, brother.

  18. The typical turnout rate for the average presidential election is less than 50%. Such a dismal rate gives someone no right to speak of revolution. Our citizens literally are voting for "I don't care what happens" and a majority at that.

    PeaceLikeaRiver likes this.
  19. The reason why the turn out rate is so low is because when you vote for a president the parties themselves have limited your choices to start.

Most decent candidates cannot run unless they have support by one of the two ruling parties they will not get on the ballot.

So that means you're down to just the elites from the two party system.

Then after those are selected, they receive money to run and if they do not have enough no one can vote on them.

So again less opportunity to get a decent candidate.

Also many states only allow you to vote the two parties in primaries.

By the time the general comes, you have no on but the same two beasts that have been pushed forward from the start.

    So WHY vote?

    The system is broken.

  20. So... 2 separate questions... I will leave the question of the moral responsibility for Secular revolution out of the discussion.... I have no desire to plow that ground here....

So... The responsibility for the Christian who is obedient to God..... Our SCRIPTURAL responsibility....
We have THE RESPONSIBILITY to defend our Inheritance..... Our God Given Inheritance.....
    So... 2 questions....
    Where is our inheritance?
What specifically does "Defending our Inheritance" consist of to a Christian....

The Ethical question applies to Defense of your Inheritance.... Israel was granted an Inheritance - and Israel was responsible before God for claiming and holding that inheritance... There were Conditions - Military obedience, Civil obedience, and Spiritual obedience...

We are also responsible for claiming and holding OUR inheritance... There are conditions here as well....

Let me state here that both "Political" sides of the coin have blood on their hands.....

I will generalize it to "Silent activism" both Civil, and within the Church whose main modus operandi is to fan the fires of envy, greed, hatred, and division to accomplish it's goals - which may or may not be "Cloaked" in biblical issues..... I bet you and I could both come up with long lists that cover both "Conservative" and "Liberal" viewpoints.....

I will generalize "Silent Acquiescence" as Christians that "Give in" because they "Feel bad", become deceived that they cannot do anything, or are just lulled into complacency..... Once again, we can come up with long lists that cover the political spectrum....

I would say here.. Mostly yes.... But.....

The thing here that really changed my thinking was.....
What was Jesus' response and command to his followers pertaining to the Organized, Officially Sanctioned Religious Institutional Leadership.....

What was Jesus' response and command to his followers pertaining to the Official Civil Leadership....

Notice how the "Church" leadership would have us turn that around 180 degrees.....
