Remorse

This is a very personal testimony, I'm not sure of I'm allowed to post this but I really need to vent.

I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour a few years ago but I'm still battling sin.

I have overcome some vices (porn, smoking) but not others.

Remorse, however, is becoming more severe - and this, I believe, is probably a good thing.

Last week, I fell into temptation (sexual sin, resentment) and got very depressed about it.

That same night, I also had the most intense nightmares ever. These, I believe, came straight from hell because they surgically targeted all my biggest fears/anxieties: e.g. an earthquake, my professional situation, the health of my parents.

The nightmare ended with the image of a huge demon (maybe satan himself) that produced a supernatural growl, I rebuked him saying 'I am a servant of Christ'. I was screaming like a maniac, I hope I didn't wake my neighbors.

God have mercy on me, I want to overcome sin but it's not easy.

If not here among friends......where else????

Please understand the when you were not saved and did not beloing to God, Satan had no reason to persecute you. He more or less left you to yourself. But now that you are saved and are freely telling the world about it, Satan is and will come at you with everything he has.

My dear friend.....the sin nature never leaves us. We have it till we die. You can however decide to not allow it to dominate your life and make wrong choices.

What you described sounds to me like it could be the battle with in as the Holy Spirit fights the sin nature.

May I say that what you described is what we all go through.

Listen to Paul in Romans 7:14-20.........
"For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. 16If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. 17Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 18For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. 19For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. 20Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me."

Does that sound like YOU??? It sounds a lot like me my friend.

Now, I would suggest a few things to you.

#1. Read the Bible. Fill your mind with the thoughts and teachings of the Scriptures.

#2. Remove any porn web sites from your computer. Remove temptation.

#3. Limit your exposure to Santanic and Demonic movies and computer games. They stimulate your mind and cause it to recal things you have seen in those movies after they have been brought up to you consciousness.

Remember.........garbage IN.....Garbage out!!!

Thank you for your help, I really need it right now.

Yes, my browsing history is spotlessly clean and I hate porn with a passion. No problems there.

Same thing with video games and satanic content - I don't even own a TV set anymore.

Just a few years ago, this would have been unthinkable to me, I was completely immersed in the world. It's scary to think how blind most people are today.

I am always blessed to help. Reach out to people here on this web site and they will be glad to help as well.

always remember that all of us are involved in spiritual combat to one degree or another.

Ephesians 6:10-13........

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm."

You are completely correct.

One of Satan's best tricks is religious deception.

If you recall, it was deception that caused Adam and Eve to sin. Satan has been doing that for several thousand of years. He has developed great skills in manipulating, enticing, and provoking people to do what he wants them to do. He knows men’s weaknesses, and uses that as an opportunity not only to deceive them, but to keep them in bondage for as long as he can.

The question then must be.......HOW can that be??????

Because men have constantly found themselves in a horrible mess struggling with a raging sinful nature, which gives them an intense desire to rebel against God. We want to do what we want to do and no one is going to tell us otherwise. Does that sound familiar??????

Well, I am just repeating what Paul said in Romans 7:14-20.......
"For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh, sold under sin. 15 For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. 16 Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. 17 So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. 18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me."

Consequently, that aggravates the problem much further because of that sinful nature men can’t control on their own. This then makes them more prone to fall into the devil’s traps to destroy every aspect of their lives. This sinful nature gives the enemy a legal right to deceive men, and hold them captive indefinitely unless something powerful is done in their lives by God’s through Christ in order to reverse that sinful tendency men have.

We will always struggle with sin, even i sin on occasion. I do not sin very often, but i still do. This is why Jesus didnt say you have to follow every word i say all the time, and you have to be sinless. We have a sinful nature that is always coming back. The spirit edifies the soul, the flesh goes against it. Just keep a repentant spirit, and sin as little as you can and ask God to help you. Ask for forgiveness and you will be forgiven, God is not mocked but at the same time our sins are removed as far as the east is from the west. Keep asking for forgiveness. God bless.

"Even I sin on occasion"......"I do not sin very often".

My dear friend.....do you realize how that comes across?????

It comes across as "Eliteist", also condescending and if fact Biblically wrong.

Just you posting those comments is sin.

1 John 1:8 says.........
"If
we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us."

If we ever say we have no sin, then we should ask ourselves why our LORD Jesus taught His disciples in Mathew 6:12 to always ask for forgiveness in The Lord 's prayer. My dear friend, we all sin and we all sin every day and no one is exempt or above anyone else.

Second you said ......." that's why Jesus didn't say you have to follow every word i say all the time". WHere in the Bible is that found?????

Hello Flavio;

Thank you for sharing your very personal testimony. Before any of us accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we weren't a threat to Satan. He had us exactly where he wanted us.

The moment we accept Jesus and decide to follow Him, the devil is threatened and is going to battle and break us to the weary point of apostasy. What are examples of "battle and break?" In your walk with Jesus you will be deceived, persecuted, hated, betrayed and many will be put to death because of the unbeliever's high disdain for Jesus.

Let the world beware to those who curse you because God is watching them. But you, Flavio and the rest of us, who stand firm til the end will be saved. Please read and meditate on Matthew 24.

One of my many personal battles is the demonic, principalities of darkness in my thoughts that can trigger sin in my life. Whatever temptations, thoughts and actions that can take God's glory away, is to stop at that moment, whether in your car, room, bathroom, public place, it doesn't matter, begin to pray and make known to God that you are battling the temptation of sin. As Jesus teaches us, STAND FIRM! We are empowered to rebuke the evil one and he must flee. Please read and meditate on James 4.

Flavio, sharing your testimony relates to your brothers and sisters, we all have our personal battles. As followers of Christ, we aren't alone and remain as one body, including you and me.

I'm adding you to my personal prayers daily and hope you feel the reassurance that Christ is in you, brother, and will protect you.

God bless you and your family.

I will humbly agree to disagree. "I do not sin very often", is a statement from the personal perspective of Prycejosh1987. Who are we to know what to measure them up against? Maybe he is referring to before being saved, in comparison to now. It may not have been intended as an elitist comment after all. As elders of the church of the body of Christ, I love and forgive all my brothers and sisters. Thank you Major for posting scripture in reflection of correction. Might we however, remember to do so with love. Lord knows I have forgotten myself on these very boards, on several occasions.....

Personal perceptions are as diverse as God's rainbow of saved souls :)

I understand your thoughts. I even agree with you. I had absolutely no intention of presenting my comments in anything other than love for the truth of Gods Word. However, from the language used by our mutual brother it was evident to me that he was not referring to his life before being saved. If I am incorrect I stand corrected willingly.

IMO, that kind of theology comes from a Bible teaching which is not grasped before one is saved.

If the way I tried to correct that kind of teaching offended you I am apologize to you because it was never my intention to do so.

I was not offended, and thank you my brother in Christ~ I am simply remembering there are teenagers, and the unsaved reading these boards.
Trying to keep that in the back of my mind as I type freely is sometimes a difficult task.

well. If your job is lost, your parents die, and there is an earthquake, I am supposing that the natural response is..try and multiply and maybe your offspring will have a better life.

But who's to say they won't suffer the same things in life as you did. The thing is God thinks you are precious and doesn't just value you for your ability to reproduce.

A common failure among Christians is that they have not learned what they claim to believe. The hardest thing seems to be that sins no longer count. Jesus is the savior from sin, remember? Comfort can be found just by reading the bible and learning what it actually means to be a Christian. For instance you will learn that Jesus Christ was not a Christian. He was a Jew speaking to Jews about Jewish concerns. Jesus thought only Jews would be saved and he taught salvation by works. People who talk about "following Jesus" have not noticed that. People who think porn is a sin have not learned the Christian doctrines. That is why you are giving yourself a hard time about your sins: you have not learned that Christians don't sin. Romans carefully explains that.

Read a chapter of Proverbs every day. Proverbs has 31 chapters so you can keep your place by just looking at a calendar. There is no religion or nothing in Proverbs and you don't have to believe anything. Just read to find wisdom.

When you are comfortable with that, then read the bible from Romans to 2 Thessalonians over and over until you start to remember passages. That is the part that applies to Christians.

Saul, I have to disagree with your comment with all due respect. You said and I quote...........
"People who think porn is a sin have not learned the Christian doctrines."

To me, it seems as if you just said looking at porno is not a sin. I believe that there is no greater evil in the world than that of pornography! Sadly, our mentally-ill American society honors pornographers and has legitimized the business as an industry. Pornography is a Trojan horse sin, because it opens the door to many other sexual sin. Pornography causes lasciviousness (sexually addiction). It opens one's soul to demonic influences.

Psalm 101:3 says clearly that ........ “I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes...”.

Then from the mouth of God in Matthew 5:20, 27-28 we clearly read that.....
"For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven...Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart."

If I misunderstood your comment, you certainly have my apology.

Then you said............
"you have not learned that Christians don't sin.".

Salvation begins the moment we receive, by faith, God’s offer of forgiveness through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus the Christ.

But I believe that every living and breathing person knows that we soon notice that our propensity to sin is still part of us. How can that be, since we are new creatures in Christ? We still sin because we, though forgiven, are still fallen human beings.

We still sin after being saved because we are by nature sinners and sin is what sinners do.

A fish may long to live on the beach, but once it has flipped itself onto the sand, it wants nothing but to return to the water because its nature is not designed for dry land. A fish was created for the water. So it is with us. The nature of those indwelt by the Holy Spirit is to live in righteousness. We may flip ourselves into sin at times, but we can’t survive there. The new nature thrives in righteousness and obedience to God. The degree to which we allow the Holy Spirit access to every area of our lives is the degree to which we live as God intended us to live.

Romans 3:23 says.........
"ALL have sinned and come short of the approval of God."

Now where in that verse does it say or imply......Except Christians. "ALL" means ALL!

If that is not the case.......please allow me to speak with your spouse for just 5 minutes.

?
Sauls post --- don't make any sense.
Jesus didn't teach salvation by works it was grace through faith, so even Jewish Peter, who admitted he was unworthy and sinner, and denied him three times was saved. And amazingly God told Peter he had to then go eat with the gentiles. Peter at first thought it was a sin to eat with them.

Guess what Jesus told a woman caught in adultery..someone actually caught in the act like a pornographer filming it for everyone to see...

'Go and sin no more'.

Not 'Go and keep sinning'.

Romans 10:9-10 King James Version (KJV)

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

"Righteousness" get it? Jesus is the savior from sin. Salvation is by grace. If you are obsessing about sins you are still hung up on works. The rest of Romans explains the concept carefully, especially chapter 6.
