What is our identities ?

  1. Who do men say we are as to men what would our life message say to those around not to just our friends or family but to our coworkers or enemies? Is our life message based off his holy word or is it based of popularity& thrifty trends how much of the world is in our daily walk with God is he first do we have heart and walk knowledge or head and word knowledge? We cannot put God first in our lives unless we wrap our identities around his promises,

  2. First, I don't care for the word, Identity. I understand this may not relate to your thoughts on the Op, but please let me explain.

    I don't have an identity. I am a man.

I don't carry I.D. I shy away from graven images.

Like God Almighty said, "I Am Who I Am".

Here is your last sentence edited by me - We cannot put God first in our lives unless we wrap our [spirits] around his promises,

The Church is the only face of God this world is ever going to see. What are we showing to those whom we work around? The Word of life in the pages of the Bible must become life in our flesh. We are living "epistles" known and read by all men. What are our co-workers reading and seeing in us? If we look just like them, then they will not want what we have. As Jesus said, "we are the light of the world, we are the salt of the earth, and out of our belly flows a river of life". Those who are showing these things are making a impact on those they come in contact with, no matter where you go. Nothing preaches the Word of God louder than someone living that life, and having the Word of God become "manifest" in their flesh for all to see. Our "identity" is Christ who is our life.

2Co 4:10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
2Co 4:11 For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

  4. Um..not sure of you asking a question but what came to mind is we are ambassadors for Christ.

Those who followed the way...Jesus way were first called christians in Antioch. It was a derogatory term apparently. There is a hebrew term called Nazarite? I think it is.

Heres several other identities to think about.

olive tree, trees bearing good fruit
    Co-heirs with Jesus
    Priesthood of Believers
    The called
    Brothers and sisters in christ

  5. @psalms511 Hello,
I find that the written word of God gave us our idenity. It's called "Even As."
We are told many times to Love or forgive even as Christ has. There are so many more even as in the word. You should look for them and read them. It will change the way you see your self. It did me and many others too.

Now then, I am a firm believer of this, renewing my mind in His written word building up my spirit man and making smaller my fleshly man and becoming more like Jesus.
When a person does this, a whole lot of things begin to happen. They are changing constantly as they begin to walk in the spirit more and the flesh or the way of the world far less. This in it's self is the best wittness out there.

When you walk in the spirit you produce fruits of the spirit and crucify the flesh and it's ways or the ways of the worldy person. This in it's self lets the Light of God shine brighter and brighter in and through you. Those around you will be drawn to light sooner or later, but dont get discouraged when some stray away or fall back. See that light exposes the sin and bad in their lives and beings and some run from it and some hate it and some get freaked out but will return. The word of God never returns void.....Niether shall your witness when you walk in the spirit.

This will take away the cares of,.... is our life reflecting God's Love or the trends of the world.
Thank You Psalm511 for starting this thread. It will be interesting to see how others reply.
Have a very blessed week and Keep your Light Bright with Christ...

  6. For me....i want to be so intertwined, and engrafted into the vine (John 15) that no one really sees me but sees only Jesus. Having a worldly "identity" really is nothing that i desire. I have always told God that my desire is to dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
    Blessings and peace to you!
