This morning at church

Sat at the back of the church today alone as my wife was at home with a migraine, I had the chance to look around rather than being talked at,
As I was watching I saw something which disturbed my spirit at both the beginning and the end of the service
Was it just me or was I being shown something?
So I penned the following…Hopefully now I can sit in peace and watch the rugby
Northampton Saints v Wasps
Bring it on!

I’m sure it doesn’t happen in your church?

I’m lost, lonely in a crowd
Desperate to climb up into a tree,
To get noticed as You pass by…
As all around are too distracted to see me,
Is it asking too much to be accepted
As one of the family
Not missed, ignored
as if I didn’t exist?

I did try starting conversations but after several attempted
one word interactions gave it up as a bad job
now like Jonah, I’m sat under a gourd vine,
that’s a shadow over my head,
delivering me from the loneliness, I feel

Am sat in the front row of church
am I wearing an invisibility cloak?
Nobody seems to know I’m here
sat in silence midst a cacophony of conversation all around
Desperately wanting some one,
just one
to acknowledge my presence in the congregation
Don’t want to be the centre of attention,
Not part of the ‘In Crowd’
But just one person after the doorkeeper acknowledge that I’m sat here, part of the throng
In the house of God
so I’ll just sit and wait
til you pass by
To bring me in to into the fold
Make me feel I’m wanted
Not just a stranger a passerby

The lost sheep may not be lost out on the hill
Stuck in a bog
Clinging to the mountain side,
He may be sat in the back row right under your nose
And you didn’t see him there?

May be someone struggling
Needing a thumbs up
to say It’s good to be With you in ‘The house of the Lord!
He may have been
One of Gods winged messenger
With an word in season
But all were too busy
To take time out to listen,
And the season’s passed by,
May have been
Jesus in plain cloths,
Too late now
You’ll never know!

Are we too busy socializing in our churches even in our lives that should Jesus visit, would we skim over him also?

Just food for thought.
Wonderful poem.
There seems to be many here gifted with poetry, what a blessing!
