The Standard of Life

  1. Genesis 2:16-17
'And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden
thou mayest freely eat: but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou
shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.'

A person might think knowing right from wrong, and making decisions
according to this standard, is what the Christian life is all about. But the truth
is, death comes when law dictates our life. The believer now has the very life
of God expressing itself in him/her. We must not concern ourselves only with
refusing the wrong, and doing the right. Our standard is 'life'... what brings
God's peace and unction as we live out our days.

  2. This quote (from Bibles for America) reinforces the same idea of living by the 'standard of life'.
