The purpose of Jesus' Parables

"Pearls before swine" and "pearl of great price" are both sayings of Christ but they are being combined out of context. Both contexts say the pearl(s) are valueable. Neither quote says that pearls are unclean. Outside dietary law, unclean is such as not being in proximity of a corpse, or having relations when a woman is "unclean" both of which need time to be clean again. The woman isn't permanently unclean nor the corpse toucher. I have yet to not see pearls at a Jewish jewelry store. Nor do I know of a law against say pigskin wallets or whatever. Just saying. In the law about tzit tzit fringe - the sea snail for blue thread in the fringe in scripture IS HOW we know they used it in ancient times. It was part of the Mosaic law.

Having said that - I agree that there are people who take scripture too far, often in a context that implies they are "better" Christians to others. If one buys into that without observing it in life makes me wonder.
