The Narrow Door

  1. (NIV) LUKE 13:23-28
23 Someone asked him, "Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?"
    He said to them,
24 "Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. 25 Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, 'Sir, open the door for us.'
"But he will answer, 'I don't know you or where you come from.'

26 "Then you will say, 'We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.'
27 "But he will reply, 'I don't know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!'
28 "There will be weeping there, and gnashing of teeth, when they see Abraham, Issac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves thrown out." ...

Any thoughts and insights about the Truth revealed here?
  2. I truly believe that those who hear get away from me for I never knew you are the ones who never made Jesus Lord of their life and therefore have not the Blood of Christ covering them.
Many people insist doing good even if in the name of Jesus is enough and many feel going to church and living the best you can is enough and the truth is........NO IT IS NOT !!

One way in and that is through the Blood of Jesus thee Christ or ANOINTED ONE !!

  3. Ohhhh God just made something click in my mind. In the parable of the wedding banquet... (Matthew 22:2-14 & Luke 14:16-24). In Matthew 22:11 there was a man who was not wearing the right clothes...and thus he got kicked out. What God helped me to realize is that the clothes or his covering was the Blood of Jesus....and because he was not covered in the blood, he was thrown outside into the darkness, where there was weeping and gnashing of teeth.

    Good stuff thanks!
Big Moose, larry2, Arrie03 and 1 other person say Amen and like this.
  4. This is how I interpret these verses.
The evildoers (27), are deceitful, or untrue people.
The Lord/God is Truth. If God acknowledges an untruth, or allows an untruth in, then that untruth will have the same validation and power as a Truth. (Exactly what satan wants).
That is why God says, 'I don't know you or where you come from'.
Only the truth-filled person can enter through the narrow door.

(NIV) Genesis 3:24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.
The flaming sword is a known symbol for Truth. The only way to access the tree of life is to survive the flaming sword of Truth. Only a truth-filled person can enter.
  5. The whole discourse revolves around the question asked Jesus........ "Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?"

Our time here on this earth as human beings ends usually suddenly but surely. When we die death ends all mens opportunity for salvation. There is no 2nd chance after death and no soul sleep in order to wake up and have a do over or a chance to fix what we have done. What Jesus said is that at the judgment some people will presume upon having once seen or known Christ at one time or another.

However that is not what is needed to be saved from the judgment. One must have a PERSONAL relationship that involves faith and trust in His shed blood for the payment of their sin. In other words Jesus is telling this man ......"Make sure YOU are saved".
  6. (NIV) John 14:6-7
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."
John 14:10 "Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work."
John 14:12 "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father."
John 14:15-18 "If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever - the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you."
John 14:26 "But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."
John 14:30-31 "I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold on me, but the world must learn that I love the Father and that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me. "
    Jesus praying the the Father.
John 17:17 "Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth."
  7. This also stands as a subtext of "manifestations" of The Spirit vs. "Fruit" of the Spirit..

The significant difference between the Power of God upon you and the Spirit of God in you....

The FRUIT: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, longsuffering, contentment is what you bring forth as evidence that The Spirit resides within you.... Though they may be good, moral, sweet, caring people - Non-believers do not bring forth this fruit... You will typically find them excruciatingly empty inside... This Fruit is "the light" that the unbelieving world is supposed to see in us...

The MANIFESTATIONS: working mighty works, prophecy, tongues, gifts of healings - these are evidence that the POWER of God is present.... but are NOT evidence of the transformation of the heart.... This is vastly misunderstood even by prominent denominations.... Just because mighty works and the power of God show up doesn't imply their gospel is right or their heart is being transformed.... Look no further than King Saul...

Arrie03 and Peter Luke say Amen and like this.
  8. Hello JohnC
Yes, I can see what you are saying.
There are many tricksters and much self-denial that the Spirit of truth can discern. From such discernment the spirit of a person is tested and becomes known.

The problem of this world of empty hearts is unquenchable greed. Claiming whatever they can get for themselves to fill their Godless void. Claiming to be the better denomination, church, knowledge of truth, and favored by God due to so called gifts, is evidence of needing to be fulfilled. Every person, Christian or not, is not exempt from temptation to the human worldly desires of wanting to play god.

For instance, faith healers, it is a known fact that as soon as spiritual pride claims the healing, the healing works diminish. Some healers claim to be the healer, and forget that it is God that heals. Today, many doctors claimed to have healed people, but all they have done is surgery. The healing of a person is from within them. The true healer knows it is not them that heals, but only the Love and Power of God that can Create healing. The true healer only serves as a means to help the receiver act in faith to be healed. The healing power of God moves through The Spirit of the faith-filled believer.
God/Truth creates only what is true. God will not entertain what is not true.
  9. There is also only a period for one to reach salvation, once He gets up and closes the door, you can not enter any more. So living a life where your motto is to have fun and put everything on the back burner is foolish indeed.

  10. I looked up some of the original greek:
Make every effort --strive, as in agony
narrow door-- strait gate, a strait being a narrow passageway often with obstacles in the way obscuring and/or interfering the navigation of passageway.

Those who just know someone and look for a benefit, as opposed to a personal relationship/friendship with a benefactor.
  11. Not if the second is conditional as the first.
  12. Do you think that "faith healers" are trickters?
  13. Hello Major.
Some faith healers are tricksters of evil. Some faith healers are servants of God. But no one can serve two masters, meaning evil and God.
  14. I think that you can be a little more direct than that and stay within the forums rules.
  15. Hello Major.
I have to go work now, and a bit of a rush. Please explain 'more direct'?
Give me some questions as to what is unclear for you.
Got to go...God bless you Major.
  16. It just seemed to me that you were trying to be very polite and kind of evaded an answer. We have had a lot of discussions here on "faith healers" and the site is pretty much one way or the other. Some are convinced that men today can heal others.

My thinking is what the Scriptures say in James where it says that God heals through the prayers of the saints.

Today we see men who knock others down and declare that it was the Holy Spirit and they demand that God heals so and so because that have the faith to believe.

Now when asked you stated........."Some faith healers are tricksters of evil. Some faith healers are servants of God."

To me that is a middle of the road response meant to apply universally so that there is no real answer at all. That was my thinking and reason for the question.

Now, IF some are tricksters and some are servant, how do YOU separate one from the other?
  17. Hello Major.
    Thanks for your response.
First of all, my concern is the patient. Does the patient have faith in the healing power of God.
The patient, of a particular illness, of true faith in God's power to heal is under God's Mercy to heal or not that particular illness. However, I believe that God will heal (any or all - physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually) anybody who He deems to be True at any given moment.
Example: as soon as someone believes in God, their is a healing of sorts taken place. Exactly what that is, is up to God.

In regards to faith healers. It is up to the faith healer how they serve God as a witness of faith in God The Healer.
A servant faith healer of truth generally prepares themselves, for their interceding, with deep prayer and meditation to clear away any selfishness within them.
They intercede with love and humility.
The trickster faith healer lacks truth, and selfishness governs the way they intercede. They usually intercede with expressions which exploit their self and patient.

    What are the main differences?
The patient who puts their faith in God, and the servant faith healer to intercede, then both are totally dependent on God The Healer.
The patient who only puts their faith in the servant faith healer to intercede, the patient is partly dependent on God The Healer.
The patient who puts their faith in God, and the trickster faith healer, the patient is partly dependent on God The Healer.
The patient who only puts their faith in the trickster faith healer to intercede, the patient is totally dependent on something that is not there. There is no truth or intercession.
  18. First of, allow me to ask you this about the faith of the patient. How much faith do you think that Lazarus had? NONE! He was dead!

Then as for the preparation of the "faith healer". Do you really know what you posted to be true. What are the examples that you can post where you have observed such actions.
  19. Hello Major. I feel an even stronger tension in these questions.
First of, allow me to ask you this about the faith of the patient. How much faith do you think that Lazarus had? NONE! He was dead!
    John 11:25
Jesus said to her (Martha), "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?"
    JOHN 11:40-41
40 Then Jesus said (to Martha), "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?"
41 So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me."

Lazarus was not dead, only his body died.
As a poor simile, Lazarus drives his car and the car breaks down. God the Father tells Lazarus to wait in his car for four days, for God's Son will arrive and revive his car. God's Son does just that.
Other people were watching, and they too believed in God and His Son.
    There were many patients involved.

Then as for the preparation of the "faith healer". Do you really know what you posted to be true.
Yes, not only have I read about such preparations from Christian faith healers, but do so myself.
Even Jesus prayed and meditated daily to God the Father. Why shouldn't we.

What are the examples that you can post where you have observed such actions.
Before work as a counsellor, even as a road traffic controller, I pray and meditate to acknowledge my place in God's hands.
In those interactions with other people the Truth reveals what is happening as it unfolds. If I insist on being the healer/the answers/god, such truths become denied to me by my own self-fabricated glory.

I am only posting what I believe to be true. I am not posting to challenge anybody.
The door is narrow, my ego cannot pass through it. Only what is true may enter (inside), the rest must remain in this world (outside). I try to do the same. What I take inside is up to me.
  20. Am I sure??? You could say that. I was standing there observing what went on, so yes I am completely aware. If I were to tell you the name you would be totally surprised .

I am sorry you feel any tension. That is not intended. I am one who has seen a lot of things, both here and abroad and I tend to be straight forward. I at one time had been part of the "tricksters" so I know from 1st hand observation what the process and manipulations entail. That is one of the reasons I am so adimate about a MAN not having the ability to heal man. God does heal is my call but not a MAN.

The process opens the door to the ability of man to defraud man for money and when their is no healing forth coming, it then destroys the faith of all involved. As a counselor, I am confident that you have seen that in real life. It then leaves that family broken and depressed and people such as myself are the ones left to pick up the pieces of a broken faith and life.
