The Church

  1. The Church

Do people make up the body of the church, and what really makes a congregation a congregation?

    Are we the true church?

I'm kind of curious - I have heard many different opinions on this subject. I'd like to hear yours. :)
  2. The true church is all people who are truly born again Christians, who know the Lord. A congregation is a group of the people of the body of Christ who come together with the same vision and goals
  3. I agree
  4. :)

But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we
    Heb 3:6

We, the people, make up the house. And that house is the Church:

But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth
    1 Tim 3:15

Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous
    Psalm 1:5

Biblically speaking, the congregation of God is made up of the righteous.

Well, there is no doubt that true church was the congregation of the 1st Century Christians. If we affiliated ourselves to that congregation then we're part of the true church.
  5. I like your responses everyone. You actually make sense.
  6. However, as the congregation relates to the local Church.

A congregation is a group of the people who profess to be of the body of Christ, they profess to have the vision and goal to save. Only God knows those who are members of His true Church.

Romans 9:6-7. Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

Matthew 7:21. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

God will do the final sorting and reveal/redeem His true Church:

Matthew 13:30. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

    Good and God Bless
