We don't need a therapist to determine and recognize the presence of spiritual abuse. I see it all the time, and it rests mainly in the arena of false doctrinal teachings, such as the alleged requirement to tithe, and to submit to "pastors" regardless of any potential false teachings they may perpetrate. I was once a false teacher in the area of giving, but have been taken out to the wood shed by the Lord a number of times over that one before I began to read scripture for what it actually says.
