Well I would not say it has no value but it is not necessary. What is necessary is to realize that Yah is God, and that one is a sinner outside of His will and grace, and that Yeshua is the solution to that problem sent by God by grace. Such love and mercy then causes us to repent. Otherwise I see no important significance in knowing all the things that add up to 153, or 155...did father Abraham have to know such things to be saved (given the remission of sins and eternal life in Messiah)? I don't think so! But he did have to have faith unto obedience demonstrated by his life of chesed and tzedakah, but nonetheless these encoded things are interesting and sometimes revealing. One recent 108 year old Rabbi left a note revealing Messiah's name to be read after his death...His name is Y'shua (Yah's salvation). This rocked the Rabbinical world...left some angry but I believe will lead to some coming to accept Him. Your camp will see some new numbers coming in.
When you say Torah observant you do not mean you keep the whole law, do you? I would find that hard to believe...most who say this hold the Talmud as equal to the Torah. Do you believe this? Do you reject Rabbi Sha'ul (Saint Paul)?
By the way, I actually do have great respect for Jewish people who follow Messiah Yeshua though, and am grateful for all that your group has given to me to understand my Jewish Jesus. I did not come to Christ as most here would have through Greek or Latin understandings but was led by the Spirit to understand much wisdom and scripture from more of a Hebrew mindset. It was enlightening to say the least and I would personally recommend all Christians understand our practice's connection and rootedness in the Hebrew culture and learning and how much it has been changed since the 1st and early 2nd century. It would be great for you to share your perspective on some of these theological and scriptural questions. I look forward to your contributions.
