Searching the Scriptures for ( GOD'S WILL )

Discussion in 'Doctrinal Discussions' started by Truth, May 21, 2015.

  1. Am I required to search the scriptures as those in Berea did to find out the truth or to put it another way the WILL of GOD ?

Are we required to assemble ?
If so,what scripture verses tell me when to assemble and how often ?

Does GOD have any rules / commandments that I MUST do/ follow ?
  2. Required? Required for what? To be saved: No, all that is required is to accept God's free gift (which means acknowledging your personal need- sin, and accepting His blood sacrifice as payment for your sin).

To grow and to live victoriously?: Then the things you mentioned do greatly increase the quality of your life in Christ.
Trying to know the WILL of God without the Bible is like trying to understand mathematics without studying it. It's not that the Holy Spirit cannot teach you these things, it is that the way provided by God is through Biblical study (along with the other things involved in learning such as fellowship with other believers).

  3. Absolutely! Otherwise why we would have Bible?

I think early Church is the best example.. The Church we see in book of Acts.. Well, they never assembled.. Because they were always together :D

  4. I can tell you the huge difference it made for me in my relationship with God between when I was a Christian who did not read the Bible, and now when I do read the Bible on a daily basis. I mean, you don't need to read the Bible to be saved, but it's hard to grow spiritually when you don't. You should have a longing to immerse yourself in the Word of God.

  5. With 41,000 Christian denominations, you're going to get a whole lot of answers. All I can say is:

Philippians 2:12 KJV - Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

1 John 2:27 KJV - But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

The Holy Spirit will teach you through the word of God and in your own life what you are to do. Be obedient to Him and you can't go wrong. Keep in the word of God and in prayer. Nothing else.

  6. Commandments such Love and forgive and walk by faith and so forth ? Then Yea He does.
To assemble with the brethren is a blessing. Think of it this way. Family helping family grow to their fulfilment in Christ.

The written word of God is His instruction on how we are to operate in this kingdom or the kingdom of God which is always His way of doing things. Faith cometh by hearing and hearing of the word. Out side of faith you can not please God so it seems that reading and studying His written word is a must for it is through His written word that we renew our minds and hearts in Christ.

We can not learn to walk in the spirit so as to not satisfy the flesh with out renewing our mind which is to retrain how we think and act and react and with out the renewing of the mind we can not build up our faith and with out building upour faith we can not walk according to how he desires us to walk from glory to glory or victory to victory.

You asked how often should one assemble with the brethren........best answer I could give is, as often as you possibly can.
Have a wonderful and blessed day Truth

  7. Absolutely.
And I tell you, there is nothing like glorifying and worshiping God along with members of the body, in a group who is like minded about their love for Him.
I've tried singing on my own at full tick, after all the cats in the area vacated their rubbish bins, I kinda got the message.:p

  9. Yes, but no one around me was at the time. I try to limit these sessions to my car these days.
But, oh, I tell you, prayerfully praising our God is a blessing, and do not be surprised if He comes and have dinner with you mid way through.

  11. I believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God and that He allowed Himself to be crucified, died and shed His blood to pay for my sins and have repented and asked Him to forgive me of my sins .
I abstain from meat offered to idols, fornication ,things strangled ,and blood as Acts 15:20 says.

Thanks for your posts. I see from them that I am not required to read or assemble in order for me to stay a Christian, that the Holy Spirit will teach/guide me in the way I need to go.

Blessed be God the Creator, Jesus the Messiah and the Holy Spirit !!!
  12. I don't attend any building service, but I'm in the word or listening to a sermon 3-4 hours a day. I don't say that to boast, it's the only life I have. I don't speak the local language (even if I did I doubt it would be different) so I don't interact much with people except here.
  13. However, Truth, you must remember this:

    Hebrews 10:25
And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
Heart_for_Christ, Big Moose and Ravindran says Amen and like this.
  14. Are you saying that Hebrews10:25 is saying that I must assemble to be saved ?
  15. Could this here, what we are doing right now on CFS, be considered meeting together/assembling?
  16. Never. But if we are saved, we need to plug in to a local church in order to grow straight.
Ravindran and Major say Amen and like this.
  17. Not really.

  18. The "will" of God is found in God's Word. Read it, study it, speak it, and above all, believe it. There you will find what you are looking for.

Rom_12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

  19. Could you expand on why you say that? 2 or 3 are gathered in His name here. It may be that we will have to agree to disagree. :)
  20. Matthew 18:19-20
“I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. 20 For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.”

When Christians gather, the Lord says He is in the midst of them---when they come together in prayer, contextually. It doesn't make it a functioning assembly. There are far more dangers in an online forum group than there are in a local church assembly, as there are too many people at variance with the word who come to places like this to sow their errant beliefs and discord. In fact, it is those who are members of a local bible-believing church that do a lot of "work" to mitigate the spiritual harm or error that enters on a regular basis.

There are many reasons why we need to become a part of the local assembly, which an online forum cannot completely cover.
