Reaping heavenly rewards?

Reaping heavenly rewards?

All my life I’ve been in the back room cooking, because I can,
Along with my bible
My weapon of choice
has been my skillet casserole dish and wooden spoon
to serve God

Not wanting to put my head above the parapet
But ready to answer the call,
I’ll look after their bodies
Pastor, you look after their souls
I’ll be there at all the ceremonies, at harvest home
Cooking up a storm,

There’ll be hog roast
Hotdogs and grandma’s apple pie
I’ll sweat away in the kitchen to make sure all are fed
While all the time the celebration is in full swing in another place

There is generous applause when they see the spread fit for a king
While me and my helpers
Collapse in a heap,
With coffee in hand take five minutes to recuperate
Cos there’s another meal, another celebration next week

Wish we’d use disposables
But eating such a feast is not the same
When the plate you’ve just loaded begins to bend,

I wonder,
when I get to heaven
Will someone come whisper in my ear?
have you a moment
Can you just follow me?
We need help in the kitchen,
The banquet’s not ready and
God’s coming soon

To welcome His children
Into His banqueting house!
And the foods must yet ready,
He won’t tell us the time or date
but the table is already laid
Everything’s in place

Jesus has watch over your training while you were down on earth,
So your banquet will be good enough
To lay down before the King of Kings

It’s what you’ve been training for, all the time you were on Earth
So get those pans rattling
Jo’s, she’s already in the kitchen,
Steve’s just arriving in heaven
He’s come to help!

(Steve and Jo two friends who have enthusiasm and are always there when there’s food!)

HAHAHAHA.... oh my goodness.... Alan.... this post touched me deeply because my skillet is also how I serve others.
I love the kitchen so much that I refer to dying as "being called up" to kitchen duty.
I could have written this if I had the gift of the pen. BRILLIANT and BEAUTIFULLY written. For those of us who truly have the gift of
serving through food.
