Any how here’s a poem

When

When you’ve got all you want
And it’s not enough
And desperate for your needs to be met
When riches and wealth
And all you posses
Leaves you cold and unfulfilled
When you eat your fill
And are still hungry
Drink and not refreshed
Nothing seems to quench your thirst

There’s always Jesus

When you’ve found the love of your life
Who only has eyes for you
Yet there’s still a yearning
A void not fulfilled
When life is hard
And the world is crowding in
It turns you upside down
Don’t know where to turn

There’s always Jesus

When my eyes grow dim
And life starts to fade
And all things held dear
I’m at the end of time
Here on earth

There is Jesus

All I want for Christmas

I want something special
For Christmas this year

Not another Christmas jumper
With a robin on
A cute puppy dog
Or even a lighted Christmas tree

Forget socks, hankies
Or aftershave
I’m still eating dates
And nuts, crisps
And Turkish delight
From last year

I want something
Something that will last
Beyond twelfth night
That something special,
Will still be remembered
Beyond Easter time!

Is peace on earth asking too much?
Putting Christ
Back into Christmas
Would be a start…

So I’ve decided, this year
I wanted to be transported
Back to that night
When Jesus was born,
to see the nativity,
First hand…

I want to talk to the Inn keeper
who offered Mary and Joseph
His barn to shelter that night
To witness the angels flying
When they announce
The birth of Jesus
To all the world

To share with the shepherds
Their excitement first hand,
To talk to the Magi about the star
They followed half way round
The known world

To cut through
The tinsel and mistletoe
Put Jesus back
Into the heart of Christmas
Where He belongs

Jesus was good at parties
Loved spending time
With family and friends

Happy Birthday
Jesus
Your presents
Under the tree
Let’s celebrate
Happy Christmas
Everyone

So

So when Joseph and Mary
Went to Bethlehem

Why?

Why didn’t they stay with relatives
Or childhood friends
After all it was Joseph’s home town?
The place where he grew up?
Had they arrive too late to disturb them?
Had they embarrassed the family
After all they were not wed?
Had family moved away
Not leaving a forwarding address?
Had they not got a put you up
They could have put in the front room?
And as for those who visited Jesus on that special night
Shepherds and sheep would
Make a right mess,
Crowding in to see the newborn ,
Not many houses had a back yard
With Mary, Joseph, new baby
The front room looking more like a farmyard
Where would the wise men sit?
Where would they tie their camels up?
Would the bright star wake the neighbours up?
And where would Joseph let their borrowed donkey rest
so it wouldn’t get lost?

Or was it was because
hundred of years before
Jesus birth was foretold…
The saviour of the world would
Start His life on earth in a stable
In His life mission to save the world?
One thing for sure
It’s going to be added,
to the list of questions
You know that list of questions that’s only going to be answered when we get to heaven,
And see Jesus face to face

For now round my head
Is ringing,
Ten thousand angels singing,
‘Glory to God in the Highest
Peace, Good will to those on earth’

I was asked what is my hope for 2022 is

This was my response

In my life I have seen many firsts
The first man to go into space
First man on the moon
First home computer,
First mobile phone
colour tv’s in nearly every room in a house
The first internet
The internet has made the reality of the world come into my front room in an instant

So what has this to do with my hope for 2022
My hope is to see another first

To be there when it begins
At ground zero so to speak

My hope is to be there, to witness a mighty movement of God,
A revival
to see people experience the reality of Jesus in their lives
For the first time
To see it grow in Kimnal bay, spread throughout Wales

That the whole county will be swept with a move of God as never seen before

But every journey starts with the first step

So my hope is to be there when the first souls are won for Jesus
My faith is believing bid asking for thousands, and thousands
To know Jesus for the first time.
But I hope for 2022 is for the first one

New Years resolution?

When

When the first month of the year
can’t get past that Monday morning feeling,
And you feel like you’ve been caught up in a groundhog
Day…
When your get up and go
Has got up and gone and left you

I will worship You

When the grass that was greener
Over the wall,
was your idea of heaven
all you thought you’d ever desired…
Has turned into a quagmire
With everyone else jumping over,
having the same idea

I will worship You

When the storms of life
Has made your path weary
And the path has gotten slippy
The mud got so gloppy
And has got over your wellie tops.
And the valley of despond
Your travelling
Seems to be going on for miles and miles
And there’s nowhere to go
and have a right good pity party

I will raise my arms to praise and worship you

Even though I loose my grip
and go on in face first
And it feels like the devil he’s jumping up and down on my back
It’s time to go bog snorkelling
Moving on believing
Where ever I am at
That’s where God meets my needs
I will turn my head towards heaven,

I will rise up and worship you

I will look to the Son of God
And believe firmer ground
Is ahead if I only believe and
Move on
I’ll stop navel gazing
And stop believing
What the world is proclaiming

I will raise my voice worshiping you

‘Whatever’…
I found Jesus
and He said ‘what ever’
I told Him where I’ve been
And the things I’d done
And He said ‘Who so ever’
Told Him I wanted to start over
And He said ‘now and for ever‘
I told Him I’m not that bad really
And He said ’ whatever’
I told Him I need to be close
And He said ‘Whoever’

He told me I will never leave me ‘what ever’
He told me didn’t matter what I had done
He died on the cross for
‘Who so ever’
He told me no one is turned away
‘Whatever’
He told me a new life in Jesus is for
‘Now and for ever’
He told me “ You’re a child of mine”
‘For ever and for ever’

‘Whatever’…

Hey Alan,

Thank you for sharing Whatever.

When I read this and re-read this it led me to the bottom line, 'For ever and for ever'

I hope all is well with you and your family, brother. God bless you!

Washing feet 2022

I’ll come round and wash the pots
help sort the laundry out
Water the grass,
wash the car.
Not just to make me feel good,
It may not be the done thing to, nowadays
To wash your feet,
But to just want to reflect the masters,
Servant heart

I’ll come and put the bins out
I’ll cook you a special meal,
Not rehash leftovers
when we’ve cooked too much,
I’ll sit and read you your library book
Even though I’ve read it twice
Take your dog for a walk
Wash the windows
Babysit your kids
It may not be the done thing to, nowadays Wash your feet,
But want to do as Jesus did

To show a servant heart
Is my goal
Not just share the same pew
the same liturgy
The same hymn book
This Jesus thing is far more than that
It may not be the done thing to, nowadays Wash your feet,
Just wast to reflect
The Masters servant heart
