  1. Mark Chapter 13

In Mark, chapter 13, Jesus talks about how the temple will be destroyed and later rebuilt? What is the name of the temple he is referencing and when was it destroyed, built. I remember seeing on the discovery channel that the temple was actually destroyed, but can't rememebr the name or i could be remembering wrong.
  2. I didn't find a verse like that in 13 but in 14 and 15 they are misquoting and misunderstanding what He was saying. They were constantly trying to find a reason to accuse him of something.

    This explains what He meant

John 2:19Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
20Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? 21But he spake of the temple of his body

He was speaking of his crucifiction and being raised from the dead.
  3. Hey sweetie, you get a star for answering her question...good for you, got to her before I could give her an answer.
  4. I think he was referring to this one:

And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
  5. Mark 13

1As he was leaving the temple, one of his disciples said to him, "Look, Teacher! What massive stones! What magnificent buildings!"

2"Do you see all these great buildings?" replied Jesus. "Not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down."
3As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John and Andrew asked him privately, 4"Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are all about to be fulfilled?"
5Jesus said to them: "Watch out that no one deceives you. 6Many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am he,' and will deceive many. 7When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 8Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.
9"You must be on your guard. You will be handed over to the local councils and flogged in the synagogues. On account of me you will stand before governors and kings as witnesses to them. 10And the gospel must first be preached to all nations. 11Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
12"Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. 13All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.
14"When you see 'the abomination that causes desolation'standing where it does not belong—let the reader understand—then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 15Let no one on the roof of his house go down or enter the house to take anything out. 16Let no one in the field go back to get his cloak. 17How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! 18Pray that this will not take place in winter, 19because those will be days of distress unequaled from the beginning, when God created the world, until now—and never to be equaled again. 20If the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened them. 21At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ' or, 'Look, there he is!' do not believe it. 22For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect—if that were possible. 23So be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of time.
24"But in those days, following that distress,
" 'the sun will be darkened,
    and the moon will not give its light;
25the stars will fall from the sky,
and the heavenly bodies will be shaken
26"At that time men will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. 27And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.
28"Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 29Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, right at the door. 30I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 31Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

In this Chapter that you are talking about , Jesus is talking about the end times and when He is coming back . We are seeing all this in our world now and soon and very soon our Saviour will be coming back . We see in many countries how people are suffering for the gospel and being mistreated and even executed . I am praying right now for two beautiful girls in Iran who were thrown in prison for having a Bible.....

This world is so corrupt and evil that I am wondering how long God will tolerate all the sin .
  6. Just like GodSpeaks said .

Jesus predicted his own death and resurrection well before they took place. He describes himself as a temple that, when destroyed, will be rebuilt again three days later.

John 2: 19 ..... Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days."

    1 Corinthians 3:16-17

16Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? 17If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him; for God's temple is sacred, and you are that temple

We as Christians believe that our physical bodies are actual "temples" of God, in which His Holy Spirit dwells. When we turn our lives over to God, He sends His Spirit to live in us and direct us.
  7. Maybe he was. I was going by what he said, the temple being destroyed.
  8. Mar 13:1
What manner of stones - The stones here referred to were those used in the building of the temple, and the walls on the sides of Mount Moriah, on which the temple stood. Josephus says, War, book vii. c. 1: “Caesar gave orders that they should now demolish the whole city and temple, except the three towers, Phaselus, Hippicus, and Mariamne, and a part of the western wall, and these were spared; but, for all the rest of the wall, it was laid so completely even with the ground, by those who dug it up to the foundation, that there was left nothing to make those that came thither believe it had ever been inhabited.”

i suppose that had something to do with what the Discovery Channel was talking about. If I remember right, I think the destruction of the temple was in 70AD
  9. Yes, that's right.

This is the destruction foretold by the prophets like Jeremiah:

At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to fan, nor to cleanse,
Even a full wind from those places shall come unto me: now also will I give sentence against them.
Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe unto us! for we are spoiled

    Jer 4:11-13
  10. That's what I believe as well.
