Mark 4 The Parable of the Sower

Discussion in 'Bible Study' started by Fish Catcher Jim, Apr 2, 2015.

  1. Why is this Parable so important to us ? Jesus did ask if you can not understand this parable how can you know all parables? What are we to learn fromthis parable ?
    Thank You for your replies
  2. I think everyone at some point makes a stop at this one, or even an u-turn. Heat for each of us to take a moment and reflect. How is the Word of God entering or beings and our attitudes towards God in receiving it? What is important to us? Do we hear, but not change? Do we hear but ignore? Do we hear but focus on worldly desires immediately? This tells us about our relationship with God almighty.
  3. I take from this that our mind is a garden that we must tend to. We are the sowers of the word of God and we also must tend our own garden when the word is sown in us. If we don't weed it, the weeds choke the sown word of God. Just a thought.

Mat 7:15.. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Mat 7:16.. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Mat 7:17.. Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
Mat 7:18.. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

Every Christian shall be known by their fruits that they bear. No fruit no child of God. A good tree can
NEVER produce bad fruit, because their life comes from Christ not them selfs. Their fruit is the
product of the seed of the Word of God, not man.
There are four different types of people that are found in the Church today. Only one of them are true
Christians, the rest are false brothers who only imitate the real. Fruit that these people bring forth is
the key to recognizing them. Jesus said that the parable of the sower is the most important parable of
any others, and if we do not understand this one we will not understand any others. The entire new
testament is based on this one parable. Miss this one we will not understand most of the New
Testament. The letters and epistles of the New Testament were written to the Churches, yet with in
these Churches there are four different types of people in which they were written to. If we don't
recognize these people we will think all the letters and epistles were written to only the born again
saints. If we will do not understand who these people are we will come up all kinds of crazy ideas about
    our salvation.
This parable was important that Jesus tells us exactly what it means so we would not get it wrong!

    Jesus said....
Luke 8:11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

Luke 8:12.. Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
(Person #1 They hear the Word, the Devil steals the Word. Never gets saved, No fruit)

Luke 8:13.. They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
(Person #2 Receives the Word. Never produces any fruit because they have no roots to bear fruit. )

Luke 8:14.. And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
(Person #3 Hear the Word, but is choked by the things of this world. Never produces fruit)

Luke 8:15.. But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
(Person #4 hears the Word, understands it, keeps the Word, and brings forth fruit. A true Christian.)

The very first fruit produced in the life of someone who has received the Word is the "new birth"

    1Pe 1:23.. since you have been born again, not of perishable SEED but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;

When we read the Bible these four different types of people can be spotted in the letters and epistles written by the Apostles. The Lord knew there would be those who call themselves Brothers, or Saints in the Churches, bur are not. These people fall away all the time, because they never produced any fruit in their life's. These letters and epistles were written in an attempt to get them to commit to Christ, and do what is right. Even in the Book of Revelations, Jesus was warning them about these people, and that they needed to do somethings to become real Saints, not in name only. Those who belong to Christ have no worries about their salvation. They are secure in Christ, because Christ can not fail as he is our life. We died 2000 years ago on the cross with Jesus and it is no longer I who liveth, but Christ who liveth in me. Those who think they can loose their salvation have no faith in the God Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob who can never fail.
  5. To me this parable is about the condition of our spirits, and how we receive the Word of God, and how do we water or cultivate the ground so that we can be good ground. Do we have things that stand in the way so that the Word that is sown into our spirits, cannot grow, this is the question to be asked.
Euphemia and Fish Catcher Jim say Amen and like this.
  6. An example from me in my life about sowing the Word of God.

    The scripture says........

Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

When I was in my early twenties, I had a friend who asked me to go to a concert. I did not know at that time is was a Christian concert, so I went anyway. After the music was over they had an alter call for anyone who wanted to receive Jesus as their savior. I heard the Word of God, and I felt its anointing, but I did not go forward. Then about ten years later I had another friend who asked me to go to his Church. I went and when they had a alter call, I ran down the isle to get saved.
For ten years I had the "seed" of the Word of God in me. That "seed" had given me power (faith) to "become" a child of God. I had always had that power for years but never exercised it to become a son of God. During those years I never let doubt, or the cares of this world to ever cause me to disbelieve it's message. I "kept" it within me knowing from the first day that I heard it that it was true. Eventually that Word in me produced it's fruit, which was salvation.
That same seed in me has been continuously producing more fruit, which carries within itself more seed for many years, and will never stop producing.
  7. Sometimes to get the seed planted you have to work at pulling up the thorns and thistles first and with the hammer of the word break up the fallow ground and pluck out and toss away all the stones....then once planted the true spiritual farmer cannot just walk away but has to patiently cultivate and water with prayer and much instruction as God causes the opportunity to rise....sow to the Spirit and grow not weary in well doing and in due season you will reap (different lengths of time for different herbs grow fast but fruit can take years)

    Think about it....
  8. Isn't it interesting how Adam was suppose to tend, and protect the Garden in which God placed him?
