Letter to a friend attending Chrysalis

Discussion in 'Requests for Assistance' started by QuintusZ, Jun 27, 2017.

  1. Hi all

    Let me first give you a bit of background of Chrysalis,
    Its a camp that you attend but you can only go if someone sponsors you.
    You are not allowed to have a phone or watch with you for the whole weekend. So they call it a min by min camp.
    There are two camps one for the girls and one for the boys. the girls camp is first - this weekend and the boys camp next weekend me :).
    So that is all I know for now about the camp, its an Christian camp.

    Now what we must do is write a letter for the girl (friend) attending the camp, I need some advise to write a special letter to my friend. We are in the same Bible study group and Church and Youth group. During the coarse of the weekend they read the letters from there friends.

    I don't know really what to add in the letter my self because I don't even know what to expect.

    Any advise would really be appreciated,

  2. I'll be praying the Holy Spirit gives you the words.
    Blessings to you... praying also it's a great experience for you.

  3. Many thanks Cturtle!!!

  4. Hey QuintusZ,

    I don't know much about the camp mentioned, but I think it's a great concept to go a weekend without a phone or watch. Less distraction=more time with God.

    As for the letter, God gave me this thought.
    Imagine yourself in her situation, no phone no watch.. no contact with outside friends or family. If you were to receive a letter from a friend from home, what would u want it to say?
    Perhaps that can help you find your words?

    Hope I helped! :)

  5. Pray to the Lord for guidance, then purposefully think about her and the first thing than comes to mind, meditate on it and go from there. God will help you.

    'Moment by moment'
    by Daniel W Whittle
    1. Dying with Jesus, by death reckoned mine;
      Living with Jesus, a new life divine;
      Looking to Jesus till glory doth shine,
      Moment by moment, O Lord, I am Thine.
      • Refrain:
        Moment by moment I’m kept in His love;
        Moment by moment I’ve life from above;
        Looking to Jesus till glory doth shine;
        Moment by moment, O Lord, I am Thine.
    2. Never a trial that He is not there,
      Never a burden that He doth not bear,
      Never a sorrow that He doth not share,
      Moment by moment, I’m under His care.

    3. Never a heartache, and never a groan,
      Never a teardrop, and never a moan;
      Never a danger but there on the throne,
      Moment by moment He thinks of His own.

    4. Never a weakness that He doth not feel,
      Never a sickness that He cannot heal;
      Moment by moment, in woe or in weal,
      Jesus my Savior abides with me still.
    Hi @QiuntusZ,

    You have probably already written your letter now, but your initial entry here gave clues as to the possible form and content that your letter could have. Taking into consideration the points you raised (highlighted in quote).

    I include the hymn above, because of the moment by moment nature of the camp itself, and because it is a Christian camp, so each moment is an opportunity, for fun and fellowship, and quiet contemplation and rejoicing in the Saviour you hopefully all know as your own.

    'If then you were raised with Christ,
    seek those things which are above,
    where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God.
    Be mindful of things above,
    not on things on the earth.
    For you died,
    and your life has been hidden with Christ in God.
    When Christ our Life is revealed,
    then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.'

    (Col.3:1-4)

    With love in Christ Jesus
