James 4:13-14 King James Version (KJV)
13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
James 4:13-14 New Life Version (NLV)
13 Listen! You who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this city and stay a year and make money.” 14 You do not know about tomorrow. What is your life? It is like fog. You see it and soon it is gone.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
13 He isn’t saying making plans is bad but is saying to many of us make plans without seeking the Lord and to many of us follow our plans rather then God’s plans. We are to make plans and keep them if the Lord wills.
14 We don’t know if when we make plans if we can keep them, so many things could come up to prevent us from making them, we should avoid breaking promises and sometimes the best of doing this is not to make them to begin with.
