Is it better to pray normally( in your native tongue) or in tongues?

Without question, speak so that you actually have some idea what you are saying.
The vast majority of "speaking in tongues" is pure mindless blabbering.

"Mindless blabbering" is inappropriate and offensive language. The fact that the Spirit of God prays through us and overrides human thought is all good, and is the point of it all, as Holy Spirit knows exactly what to talk about with the Father concerning us, and/or the focus of the concern we are bringing before the throne.

Well then, what shall I do? I will pray in the spirit, and I will also pray in words I understand. I will sing in the spirit, and I will also sing in words I understand.

Ephesians 6:18
Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

Jude 1:20
But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit

So it is with you. Unless you speak intelligible words with your tongue, how will anyone know what you are saying? You will just be speaking into the air.
