This song is based off Matt. 28:19-20, often called “The Great Commission,” and was spoken by Jesus to his disciples. It is also based off Acts 1:8, which were Jesus’ words to his disciples concerning the sending of His Holy Spirit to them after he left the earth and ascended back to heaven. It is also based off Rom. 1:16-17, which Paul taught concerning the gospel of Jesus Christ and its power for the salvation of people’s lives for eternity. Jesus has commissioned each and every one of us who are his disciples and followers to go and to make disciples, and to teach them to obey Christ’s commands. Yet, we do not do this in our own power or strength. We are Christ’s witnesses when the Holy Spirit comes upon us, which is when we accept Jesus Christ into our hearts and lives to be our Lord and Savior. He will give us the words to say, so we don’t ever have to be afraid. We should never be ashamed of our Lord or of his gospel, worrying about what to say or how to say it, and worried about what others will think about us. Instead, we must realize that the gospel has the power for salvation in people’s lives. I’m Not Ashamed / An Original Work / February 15, 2012 Based off Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 1:8; Rom. 1:16-17 Go into all the world, And tell them the Good News, Making disciples of all the nations, Baptizing them in the name of the Father And of the Holy Spirit, And of the Son, Teaching them to obey Ev’rything I have commanded you, And surely I am with you, E’en to the end of the age. You will receive power When the Holy Spirit Comes on you; My witnesses you will be In Samaria, Judea, and Jerusalem, And to the ends of the earth, amen! You will receive power When the Holy Spirit comes on you, My witnesses you will be Unto the ends of the earth. I’m not ashamed of the Gospel of my Jesus. For salvation, it’s the power of God. For in the gospel a righteousness From God is made known, A righteousness that is by faith. I’m not ashamed of the Gospel of my Jesus. For salvation, it’s the power of God. The righteous will live by faith.
