I’m not the diagnosis

I’m not the diagnosis

I ‘saw’ this poem sat in church last Sunday, a collection of old and new thoughts
As I looked around the
Thoughts gelled together!

I’m not the diagnosis

Stop looking at the diagnosis
I’m much bigger than that,
You seeing the cancer that’s raging within me
Putting me in that pigeon hole,
Putting me In that box,
For me to live is Christ
And to die is gain
Stop wasting time feeling sorry
I’m resting in Jesus’ arms,
Every time you see me
You put me in that pigeon hole
You put me in that box
You first think of is my illness,
Not seeing Jesus in me
A child of the living God

Stop looking at me as the alcoholic
Me and Jesus have moved on from that
If Jesus has healed,
Made new… given new life
Why do you keep bring it up?’
Putting me in that pigeon hole putting in that box
Labeled curiosity
Every time you see me
First thinking of my past
Not seeing in me Jesus
A child of the living God

Stop looking at me as the thief, the robber,
That’s all in the past,
Jesus told me ‘today I’ll be with Him, in paradise’
Jesus and me have moved on!
Jesus has commissioned me to go into the whole world!
With God there is no
No pigeon holes
No league of sin
Every time you see me
You pigeon hole me
Put me in that box
first you see is my past
Don’t trust me, just in case
Not seeing in me Jesus
A child of the living God

Stop seeing the prostitute,
Wondering
How on earth could she do that?
It’s all forgotten washed away by Jesus’ blood
Stop pigeon holing her, worrying
If she sins again
Would my husband be tempted, could I trust him
Would he be safe?
You’re not seeing a child of the living Saviour
A hand maiden of the Living God
Stop pigeon holing her
Stop putting her in that box marked
‘Not to be fully trusted’
Limiting God…
Every time you see her
You first think of her past
Not seeing Jesus in her
A child of the living God

Stop seeing the minister wife
As Honorary chair of committees
Putting her in that box
Labeled
‘ministers Little woman’
Wheeled out to be a supporting player,
Wife, mother, tea maker?
She’s way more than that!
Stop labelling her ‘lovely’ ‘Thinks she needs a new hat’
Every time you see her
You pigeon hole her
Put her in the box
Marked
Supporting cast member,
Not prophet, healer, teacher, Gods servant in her own right
Every time you see her
Start seeing outside the box
Start seeing Jesus in her
A child of the living God

Many are a round pegs in the square holes
Because they have been labelled
For whats been in the past,
When you see them
Stop pigeon hole them
Start thinking outside the box
Not what they were
Not what they did
But see through Jesus eyes
You may be talking to an Angel in disguise
With a message from heaven
Hot foot from God.
Or seeing a new creation
A child of the living God
