How Is Your Summer So Far? :)

Discussion in 'General Discussions' started by autumn oddity, May 19, 2014.

  1. Im supposed to be learning how to drive : P

    Im quite nervous about it....

How about you, anything new? Enjoying all the summer plants and insects up springing forth at this time? : )

  2. I live in southern hemisphere, so we are having winter right now.

I know it sounds a strange thing to say, but I am actually enjoying it, and much prefer it to summer.

    summer is too hot.

anyway, who is going to teach you how to drive?

  3. Well...there are only 2 seasons in Phoenix, spring and summer. I don't like summers here because 100+ degree weather really isn't my thing, I like the cold. When it gets warm here roaches, scorpions and snakes are in full bloom and all of the plants either die or turn brown. Not a great sight.

  4. We are still waiting for some good spring weather. It's terrible! Usually we are very warm this time of year. I can't think about summer yet!

Get some wasp spray and spray away! I hate creepy crawly things like spiders and scorpions. I wonder if God was being literal when he said we could tread on serpents and scorpions...hmm.... :D:p. And by tread was He talking about the treads on my car tires? Maybe He meant run over serpents and scorpions.

  15. oh, the pic is from the anime "scrapped princess".

you should check it out even if you are not into anime, it is very engaging, one of the best animes I have seen.

as for my screen name, I don't think there is direct translation to be honest......

  16. Ohh scrapped princess sounds nice.

  17. It's been quite warm and dry here for the last week or so but I believe we are due to get another spell of rain soon.

I've been quite busy with odd jobs lately. Some things to plant out, a few small outside repairs to do after winter, fitting a satellite dish, making a wild duck nesting box (not that the pair of mallards that have been around this year are using it), tidying up some pipework and cables on the outside of the house, etc. Next job will be to repair the sails on my "windmill" (see this thread http://www.christianforumsite.com/threads/a-few-random-pics-from-the-garden.35138/) and this time, cement the thing to the ground so the wind doesn't blow it over again. Then I think I'm about finished for the year.

  18. We've just had a hornet in the kitchen.

  19. Lol not in the kitchen x D

  20. Yep. Apparently (I wasn't in the kitchen at the time) our groceries had been delivered and the driver was having a chat with my mother when he said "Ugh, what's that? I'm going!". We opened a window shortly after and, fortunately, it flew out.

The last time we had one in the house was a couple of years ago. Later that year, hornets took a liking to one of our apple trees (my favourite one. Makes great apple juice). We wound up leaving most of the crop to the hornets. Also, our ferret is kept in a cage in that area. We all hated going to feed, water, etc. her. I'm hoping the same doesn't happen again this year.
