Hearing From God

  1. Do you guys hear much from God? Do you feel God is speaking more and clearer these days? When is the last time you got on your knees and prayed properly?

Please share some testimonies if you have.

God has been showing me of late the importance of hearing and obeying His voice. It is logical that as we mature and the days get more evil that God would want to talk to us more.

Some scripture to consider on hearing from God:

Firstly we musn't believe any voice:
Prov 14:15 A simple man believes anything, but a prudent man gives thought to his steps.
2 Cor 11:3 But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ

God wants us to want to hear Him / open our ears.
Jer 6:10 "To whom can I speak and give warning? Who will listen to me? Their ears are closed so they cannot hear. The word of the Lord is offensive to them. Zech 7:11-13 "But they refused to pay attention; stubbornly they turned their backs and stopped up their ears

God doesn’t talk in vein, He wants us to obey what we hear.
1 Sam 15:22 "Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings ...as much as in obeying the voice of the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice..." James 1:22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.

God's voice can be / should be quite literal to our spiritual ears.
Isa 30:20-21 … your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it."
John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me

As the last days approach we need to not neglect prayer, assembling together, hearing and obeying God's voice.
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching
  2. God quite literally told me last night that I was talking to some people rather carnally and that it was stumbling them coming to Him. Today I have stopped it and I actually feel ''holier'' / closer to God. I never 'clicked' before that what I was doing was wrong.

He also told me to focus on loving Him and His love for us when I am about to sin. I am currently holding onto the thought that..... God was God before and after the cross, He died PURELY for us.

  3. We do not act as though are actions effective our witness but, it does more than we know. The way we talk and the attitude we have can effect our witness.
  4. The Christian life is the ability to allow Christ to live through us!
  5. It's important to pray with others who are strong in faith (Matthew 18:20).

  6. Hearing from God basically means reading a certain collection of 66 books, of which the Person and Work of His Son is the central and glorious theme.
  7. Glad to hear this! If what you hear jives with the Word, you are doing just fine.
This is the normal Christian Life, IMO.

  8. Let's not underestimate the spoken word (2 Thessalonians 2:15). Though the scriptures should indeed be cherished, but not only the scriptures.
