Zephaniah 3: 17 (NLT)
In His love for us, He makes no mention of past sins—He no longer recalls them. They are forgiven and washed away. He doesn't drag up the past, nor does He pinpoint our mistakes with an accusing finger. God forgives and moves on. He wants us to move on with Him as well, but to do this, we need to forgive ourselves. We need to move on from our sins of the past, all our failings and mistakes. And it's because of His love for us that we are able to move on. It is He who enables us to put it all behind us, and in so doing, we have a closer walk with God and our relationship with Him is truly enriched. God assures us of His grace, mercy and compassion expressed in His songs of love and His shouts of joy, all the while knowing full well what our 'past' looks like, how our 'present' has unfolded and where our 'future' will take us.
This is who our God is, our mighty God who saves, in whom we can feel safe and secure. He loves each of us with an everlasting love, and because of this, He is always willing to forgive us and chooses to rejoice over us. And the beautiful thing about this is that He still delights in us even when He knows our shortcomings and our mess-ups! What love is that!

For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”
God is always in our midst; He is never distant or far off—out of our reach. He is there with us every moment of every day; He is attentive to our cries for help. He listens to us when we unburden our concerns, and He delights in us when we share our day with Him—when we include Him in our everyday moments. God actually rejoices over us with singing—He shouts for joy over us. I truly believe this but have to admit that I find it hard to comprehend it pertaining to me—especially when I mess up. I remember one morning praying with tears about this, feeling as though God wasn't pleased with me. But when I read this very scripture in my devotional reading for that day, I was greatly encouraged and had a glimpse of God's love in that moment. Through this verse, I believe God spoke to me, showing me that He truly does delight in us.
