Got the proper coffee this morning

Sat in the garden with the right coffee! Looking at the blue tit chicks making their first faltering flight I wrote this

Straight and narrow way

This road you’re taking me on, worn, rutted, narrow, slippy, the straight and narrow way.
how many saints have gone before?
Is this really the only way
to eternal life
Many looked through the narrow gate,
Are you sure?
If this is the way to heaven
Why so few?

The broad road over the fence has a much easier path,
down hill all the way,
Weaving through
Imbibing, joys of the flesh
Money , fame, worldly attractions,
Any thing goes,

The grass is so much greener
An easier life
going with the flow,
along with the crowd
gaining momentum, tumbling down
No brakes out of control

But,

I hear the Master calling
Calling me to the straight and narrow way
Leading me to the gates of heaven, safely home

My legs are weary
Body frail
Frightened I’ll slip off the path
Up hill all the way,
I struggle,
The mist of temptation
fog my mind,
Tempting me to divert,
Branch off to the easy path
Jump over the wall to the greener grass,
That meadow that slopes gently down to…
Deviating from the straight and narrow path,

I’m struggling on
with my heavy load
Of thing I don’t really need,
TIL I lay my burdens down
TIL I reach the celestial plain
TIL I see heavens gate
TIL I see my names lit up in lights
Saying,
‘Welcome, good and faithful servant’,
TIL I’m in the arm of Jesus
Safely home.

But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Matthew 7:14
