Gen 9:4-5 - accounting demanded? Greetings all, This is my first post here, though I've been reading this site for awhile now. I would appreciate any insights, comments, and thoughts on the following passage from Genesis 9: (4) But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it. (5) And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each man, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man. (NIV) In v4, God's commands Noah that he may not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it- clear enough. Then, in v5, God's tells Noah He will demand an accounting from every man and animal for 'your' (any man's) lifeblood. God's demand of an accounting from man is plain enough, but I'm puzzled regarding His demand of an accounting from animals. What is meant by 'an accounting' in this context? Thanks!
