Gal 4:28-31

Discussion in 'Bible Study' started by clark thompson, Sep 3, 2013.

  1. Galatians 4:28-31
    King James Version (KJV)
28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
30 Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.
31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

28 Now you, brothers, like Isaac, are children of promise. 29 But just as then the child born according to the flesh persecuted the one born according to the Spirit, so also now. 30 But what does the Scripture say?
Drive out the slave and her son, for the son of the slave will never be a coheir with the son of the free woman
31 Therefore, brothers, we are not children of the slave but of the free woman.

28 We have promises as Isaac did. We are promised blessings from following after Christ, all in time we will receive. Abraham had more than several sons but, Isaac was the one of whom God had promised. All Abraham’s children could have been blessed if the followed God but, it is by Isaac Christ who blesses the entire world came.
29 Just as they are battles over the Promised Land today, there are battles with the flesh and the Spirit. We as believers are fighting a war between our flesh and the Spirit, we have god to aid us and carry us thru this battle.
30 We should look at scripture to make certain of the truth behind teaching we hear. Ishmael was not to receive what God had promised. We are to be under the flesh but under grace and promise. We as believers are made coheirs thru Christ and our service to Him as Lord.
31 We are children not bound by the law but, free thru His grace to serve the Lord in ways we can only do by His power in us.
