Easy Pornography

hmm

I never had a real problem with Porn being addictive. Before I was saved and even a little bit during I viewed porn quite a bit as did about every guy I knew and I went to a Christian University. But when God convicted me on it, I stopped fairly quickly so I don't really understand what some are going through. The Devil tempts me in other areas.

Being honest and keeping everything out in the open has helped me quite a bit in this new Christian life. I guess there is a shame that comes along with looking at porn and masterbating, but it is normal to want that although it is a sin to give into the temptation of lusting. God created us and gave us sexual organs to have sex, he implanted a desire to have sex so it is perfectly natural to want to have sex, however, we must abide by the restrictions God gave us on it.

It is encouraging to read about how many of you overcame certain struggles as it helps me in my own life.

God created us and gave us sexual organs to have sex, he implanted a desire to have sex so it is perfectly natural to want to have sex...

God also created up perfect, sinless. When sin entered the world, everything became corrupt, even our "natural sex desires" became corrupt.

The pleasure of sexual interaction between a husband and wife is a gift from God, not a right. If God hadn't deemed man should not be alone, that gift of companionship would not be ours.

Any and all sexual interaction outside of marriage is sin. Even the thought of such desires is sin. Since sin entered the world we all became utterly sinful. We basically breath sin, or swim in sin, even though there are those of us who have the highest moral values and goodness, they are absolutely sinful and corrupt in the human nature.

Hence the reason for the sacrifice of the most innocent and beautiful person to ever live, the Son of God.

For the Father to sacrifice his beloved and precious child for us, his bitter enemy, is actually worse than any one of the most upright and loving Fathers of us to give our child for the life of Osama Bin Laden...or Hitler, for that matter. And do it while these reprobates are trying to kill us!

That is incomprehensible to us but it is true and shows God's unimaginable glory.

We find it rather discomforting and disconcerting that we all are that vile in our nature, but we are, as scripture declares. We don't see that vileness in ourselves but God sees it. Nevertheless, he chose to love us rather than do what he desired, destroy us in his perfect justice.

He cannot tolerate even the slightest sin or imperfection. Nothing imperfect or unholy or sinful can stand in his presence. That is why we need Christ's perfection and holiness; to be clothed with Christ.

Even the beginning of a desire for what is forbidden is sinful. When God forebode the fruit of knowledge of good and evil, all Satan had to do was create the desire for the fruit. Once that desire sprang up, that was all that was necessary to condemn the world. For out of the heart comes sin.

Like Paul, the Apostle, said by inspiration of the Holy Spirit: "Oh woe is me! Who will save me from this body of doom! Thanks be to God in Christ!"

Could check the settings on the computer, might be able to set it to only allow trusted sites to link.

No surfing might be an option. Or only surf when you are around, set a time for it. Surfing seems that it would carry the most risk, i.e.- clicking on stuff and sites she has never been to before.

Could set your pop-up blockers. Could set your computer to not except cookies. You could just make a list of the sites she can go to, period. And it could be hundreds of sites long, but as long as you have seen it then there should be less worry...
There are ways to manipulate the host files but that is not for your average person. You can mess up your system if you don't do it right.
A trust needs to be built between your kids. They all are faced with it. Don't think "Not my kid they would never get into that". Everyone can get sucked in by the enemy. Pray with your kids and pray for them that the filth will not corrupt them. You know you may try and succeed to keep them from internet filth that doesn't keep them from picking it up with other avenues.
Prayer is a very powerful tool:groupray:

This is what our Lord says:

Matthew 5:27 NIV -
"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.' But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart."

Matthew 15:19 NIV -
"For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander."

Romans 3:21 - 22 - NIV
"But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known to which the law and the prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.

Romans: 7:18 - 7:25a - NIV
"I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do-this I keep doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God-through Jesus Christ our Lord!

Romans 8:5 - 8:11 NIV -
"Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God. It doesn't not submit to God's law nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.

You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you."

i know he also said hating someone is commting murder with your heart. so, i cant hate someone? man.....i do though, and its hard not to when you've been wonged like i have, the same way its almost impossable to control the thoughts of sex when the girls are walking around barely dressed (i've alway's hated that) guess i just need to pray for help

Hi All,

I've been reading what you all have been writing and it has been helpful to me to see that other Christians are really struggling with this. I know my question/post steps away from parenting/family, but I'm hoping you'll still help me out. My boyfriend has been struggling with this for some time and I just wanted to seek the advice of Christian men on this issue. Lately he's become more open to me about this issue and I believe that he really wants to work on this, since he's started to be more honest about things and tells me that he really does not like that he does that sometimes. We've tried blocking sites and such, but it seems to me with the web, you are not really able to block everything and it is fairly easy to stumble upon things. So, I guess I'm not really sure what to do. We have decided that we will start praying together once a week about this and other things, which I believe will help. I will definitely purchase that book "Every Man's Battle" recommended on this link. But do you guys know of anything else I/We can do to try to fight this battle? One problem is that my boyfriend is really private about things and would not want to share this with other Christian men/small group. So as far as accountability from other men, I don't know if that is possible. He also insists that it's not a real problem and he can stop, and he usually does for some time, but then it creeps up on him again as he bumps into things. I told him that he can be open and honest with me and I won't get mad, but I'm his girlfriend, so I'm not so sure how open he really will be, you know? Any thoughts? Thank you!

Yvo,

Every Man's Battle is a great start. I think he will find other mature Christian men to be concerned and willing to help keep him accountable.

One can also get a computer program that sends email reports to you and or an accountability partner. (To see a list I put together for a Cyber Safety Seminar you can visit: http://cyber.colossians2.com/index_files/filters.html )

Hope that helps,
Mark

Yvo,

I've been in the exact situation your boyfriend is in right now. He wants to quit, but can't control anything on his own. No man can...it's impossible on our own. But, if He learns to rely on the Holy Spirit, he can learn to live sexually pure.

Thank you!

He can be as open and honest with you as possible, but he needs a male accountability partner. Some parts of this struggle are so male-oriented that no woman can truly understand this battle. This is nothing against you personally, please don't take it that way, it's just like there are plenty of emotional issues a fellow sister can understand in ways we men cannot. I urge him to check out some other forums if he's not interested in finding a local support group, he needs to find somewhere to share the struggle with others. We can't post links here, but just Google "Every Man's Battle" and you'll find plenty.

I'm leading a study of "Every Man's Battle" in my church right now and am going through it myself for the second time. It's so enlightening and from the perspective of men that have "been there and done that". The effect it's had on me is remarkable and I can see God at work in the lives of other men in the group. I encourage you to read it with him.

One word or warning though...discussing sexual issues in detail before marriage, no matter how pure the motives, can lead to awfully tempting situations. Be sure not to tread into waters that can lead to sexual sin of another sort...this is another reason that he really needs a male to discuss things with.

Good luck and God bless.

A week or so ago Dobson stated that more than 90% of teens have viewed some pornography online. Often while doing homework. Filters alone (while a huge help) do not prevent this problem.

I give lectures on Cyber Safety but this statistic even shocked me!

I keep my daughter's computer in our family room and we ground her if we see any "click offs" - that is she turns a screen off when we enter the room.

I also check the reports from the filter to see where she has been. Any other advice out there?

If there is a will there is a way...Nowadays you cant really hide children or teens from porn..unless...you throw out the tv and computer homeschool them and never bring them into public. No friends or phone calls either..and you and the wife will have to rent a hotel on the other side of town..when the time comes for "action". That is the only way you can sheild you child or teen from porn..it is everywhere!!! What I would do if I (hopefully) not even became a parent (cringe!) I would let them know what God says about sex... and let God take care of the rest... the bible says..

Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

and for me personally at 22 yrs of age that statement is SO TRUE!..Parents job is to get the word of God in these children and no mattter how much they may run they can get away. God has them locked and sealed!

hope i was helpful!:)

Locked and Sealed...

I don't follow the "locked and sealed" part but the rest of what you said is right and well said. You seem to be very insightful.

I mean that if you train up a child from birth through lets say 18 in the church, sunday school, choir, reading the word of God to them, teach them how to pray and get in contact witht he Lord, living a Godly life. Those are the basic survival skills spiritually speaking. If you have the word of God in your heart from a child to 18, you are well grounded.

What I mean by being locked and sealed... is that no one is accidentally raised in a christian heritage we all have our specific job to do for our lord. Even when you move out at 19 and try to run from God...not submitting to him rebelling, doing everything contrary to what you know is right because of your training from birth-18 you will eventually come back to christ! Jesus is all you know..it is so grounded in you people notice the differerance about you, you just cant hide from God he will expose you to the enemy in order to let you know... this is not where you belong.

Which is why I say you are locked and sealed....make better sense?

If you are asking where I come up with this..it is because this child I am talking about is exactly who I was..the rebellion child I ran for a while but eventually I had no choice but to come back to Jesus he is all I know!

Hope you get what I mean!

Much love,
Caresse
