Don’t look at the background

Don’t look at the background

Don’t look at the background
look at the cross
All that’s there is behind me
A blurred vision of what’s gone before
Just concentrate on me kneeling
at the foot of the cross

Don’t look at the background
Look at the cross
Behind me is
The tarnished stain
The world left
Before being washed in Jesus love…
Where once was barren desert
Rivers of living waters
flow oceans wide…
Before the cross
I kneel…
Don’t look at the background
Look at the cross

All I can see is the light of salvation
Jesus, with arms open wide,
All around fades in your presence,
I am not the person
In the background
I’m the one at the foot of the cross

God sees the real you…
Not the latest hair do…
The high fashion clothes,
The fast car
The pushbike
The ‘In Crowd’ friends…
Don’t look at worldly things
that surround me
Look at the cross

Don’t look at the background
Look to the cross
You’ll see a new creation…
Washed in Jesus blood
A new child of the risen saviour,
Looking to Jesus,
The author and finisher…
Of his faith…
Look through the eyes of Jesus
Look at the cross

The cross is before me
The world behind
Don’t look at the background
See the person…
Christ in me
A new creation
At the foot of the cross
Don’t look at the background
Look at the cross

Amen.
I'm so thankful HE forgives and forgets, the world, our family, friends and ppl sometimes do not!

That backdrop however is an important image for the cross. It shines forth where Jesus saved us from, the beggarly elements and filthy rags of a lost world. If ONLY they could see the contrast for the beauty it is,they too would see the truth of THE WORD.....JESUS.

Hello Alan;

Don't look at the Background
reminds me of a devotional my wife and I are reading.

Don't rely on certainty, instead, look more to the cross.

"The prayer of faith, not certainty, is the single most important ingredient to a life please to God." quote Daniel Henderson, 21 Days of Deeper Prayer

God bless you, Alan. Keep writing!
