Do You Know God

Hos 6:6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

this verse is used twice in Matthew's account of Jesus dealing with people who were very religious on the outside but certainly did not know God's heart at all-

I desired mercy, and not sacrifice:
God loved us when we were quite unlovely- can we show the same heart to the poor, the undeserving, the hurting, the social outcast- God is pleased when we demonstrate love to one of these for it is His very nature expressed thru us His children to do so- if we cannot than no work we produce will ever bring joy to His heart.

and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings:
Brothers and sisters take time out from your day and draw near to your God-there is no greater treasure- you can get to know Him just like you get to know anyone else -by spending time and sharing lifes activities with Him . One can find thier life unsatifying and unfulfilling even performing your christian duties out of obligation instead of love's realtionship!

This is an exhortation not a condemnation- we all need to draw closer to our Lord-
