BBQ Joes

Discussion in 'Recipes and Cooking' started by JG27_chili, Oct 26, 2010.

  1. It's time for an update of the traditional Sloppy Joes, and here it is! This is an easy, budget-friendly meal that's sure to please.

    Serves: 4

    • 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
    • 1 small onion, chopped
    • 3/4 cup barbecue sauce
    • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1/2 cup shredded Mexican cheese blend
    • 4 hamburger buns, split (see Tip)

    1. In a large saucepan, brown the ground meat and onion over medium heat for 6 to 8 minutes; drain off any excess fat.
    2. Add the barbecue sauce and pepper, and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, or until heated through. Stir in the cheese, spoon over the buns, and serve.

    Preparation Tip

I like to toast the hamburger buns so they hold up better with this hearty topper.

Sorry no chili's with this dish. The kids will love it! Chili said so!
