Adam's Responsibilities In The Garden.

Discussion in 'Bible Study' started by CCW95A, May 11, 2014.

  1. Gen 2:15 And the Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to tend and guard and keep it.
    Gen 2:16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, You may freely eat of every tree of the garden;
Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and blessing and calamity you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.

These two scriptures reveal that Adam had two responsibilities.
    (1) To do something (protect and tend the garden)
    (2) Not to do something, not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

What was his first failure (transgression)?
  2. Ah, a trick question....... Awesome :)

Now we know, that God knew before the foundation of the World every single action Adam would make. God saw Adam eating the fruit He had planed to tell him not to eat.

So, God, not being all that bright, made Adam anyway despite what He knew. That caused millions to suffer under the curse of the Law of sin and death, and God handed Satan the lease to the earth to torment and kill people.

Kind of like saying, Yes, your Honor, I knew the bullets where in the gun, and I knew that the gun would shoot where I aimed it. I also knew if I pulled the trigger a bullet might come out and hit what I pointed it at.

Yes, your honor, I had that supernatural foreknowledge............... However, your honor, it's not my fault a person was standing where I pointed the gun!!! That is not my fault your honor, I plead not guilty.

So it was not Adams transgression, but It's God's fault.

    Good trick question there.

Howbeit we take not the power, authority and name given to occupy with the Kingdom in us until He comes. Stewardship is everything, for even in another mans things, promotion comes to the faithful.

This is not a trick question, it is just an observation. Maybe something someone might not have seen or thought about before.
Adam was not suppose to do something, and he was suppose to do something. Adam actually did not do what he was commanded to do, and that which he was commanded not to do he did. What did he not do?
We know sin is not only something you do, but it is also something you don't do.

Jas 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
  4. Right, Adam did not use his authority to keep the garden. Anytime we pick something else besides the Word, such as to believe more in the sickness to harm us than what God said that by his stripes we are healed and our example by the head of the church, by not doing, or using what was given to us.... "God sent his word to heal us and deliver us from our destruction" then we are just as guilty and responsible.

However, since you have shown me the light.... We both know that can't be the case with Adam........ Adam is God's fault.

BECAUSE................ God knew Adam was going to blow it before putting Adam in the Garden, so if I know I sit a baby left alone by the pool that the baby could drown, yet do it anyway. Guess who gets blamed for sitting a baby unsupervised by the pool.

So God knowing that thousands of years and death would come because Adam turned over the earth lease to Satan, and put Adam in the Garden anyway, then God knowing to do good, did it not.

Makes sense, I am glad your here to help us unlearned along.

    Be blessed.
  5. So do you see that the serpent was allowed into the garden, because Adam failed to "keep" the garden? Never considered that, but I think it could be an honest reading of these passages?
  6. It's an all-in-one event. He listened to the serpent, he didn't stop the serpent's lies (maybe he didn't understand the concept being innocent and all) and he didn't stop Eve thereby showing he didn't believe God. And nothing happened until Adam ate and then the entire universe changed.

    Genesis 3:6 (KJV)
And when the woman saw that the tree [was] good for food, and that it [was] pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make [one] wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
  7. You may be joking and maybe you're not, but I think it's dangerous to call God "not so bright"... if not your relationship with Him, but in what others think when they read your words. Emotions are hard to convey in text. A joke is a joke when it has emoticons, that's why they were made... ;)

Adam's first responsibilities from God was to guard and protect the garden. Since we find the serpent (Satan) in the garden Adam failed by letting him in. He simply did nothing to stop this intrusion, which is a sin. In the new Testament all we find about Adam's sin was....

Rom 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

It does not tell exactly what that sin was, only that it was "disobedience". If Adam was obedient in keeping the garden safe, both Adam and Eve would have never been tempted to sin. I personally believe the sin that caused Adam's fall was not in guarding the their place were they communed with the Lord. The garden was the place were Adam, and Eve fellowshipped with God, and it became disrupted. Satan all ways tries to first stop our communion with the Lord before he can interfere with our mission. If he can cause a disconnect between us, and the Lord then we will not know what to do when we are tempted as the Lord always provides a means of escape in trying times. Where was God when Adam and Eve were being tempted? Surely he was not far off, but their communion with the Lord was hampered. Adam did sin when he ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, but I believe his first offense was when he failed to protect his family from intruders into their place were they fellowshipped with God.
We to have the same responsibility as Adam had, we are God's garden and we are to keep this garden safe (The place we fellowship with the Lord). We are to not give the Devil a place.
  9. Let me meditate on this..the Spirit of Truth tells me there is a powerful revelation here! As all the things that happened in the garden are shown throughout scripture... Thanks for this thread brother..:)
  10. Even in modern warfare, the very first thing that one nation does at the beginning of an offensive is you first go after their "command and control". If that is accomplished then all the men in the field have no idea what to do next, then confusion sets in.
  11. The Lord did give Adam dominion over every thing that creepeth..

Ge 1:26 ¶ And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
  12. It is also interesting that those who do a lot of gardening, which I do not, do not consider snakes a bad thing as they help keep out other pests. Deception, the number one thing Satan uses to disguise him self as something good.
  13. Ministers of righteousness...but who's righteousness? Did God really say that "by grace ye stand" that the commandment produces sinful desires and is the strength of sin? That No man is justified in the sight of God, by the law? That one must keep "all things written in the book of the law" "every jot and tittle"....No we have not kept out the snakes!

Ga 1:6 ¶ I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Ga 2:4 And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:
5 To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

Even Paul had to rebuke Peter in this error!

Ga 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

Any person whom God has called in the ministry will have the Spirits anointing to give power to what they say, weather by preaching, or teaching. The word is designed to separate the sheep from the goats, not to bring them together. Jesus on one occasion taught something that upset all it hearers to where they all took off and never returned. Jesus said he did not come to bring peace but a sword and division. In every group of people who call them self's Christian there will be the true believer along with the false, but if that minister is really of God the Word he speaks will separate them who are not of God.
  15. I can so well understands Peters response.."where else would we go Lord? For You have the words of life" I believe and know that much of this comes down to those who would follow Christ to a certain level or degree and those who understand this is a all or nothing deal, to follow Christ. Win or lose, is not my concern, I have decided to follow Him unto the end and by His grace alone do I trust that I am predestined to be conformed to His Image.
  16. According to the Poster............. God knows everyone action before the foundation of the World. To know something is going to fail and cause death, but yet to do it anyway is sin........... God knowing full well Adam was going to disobey him and did not make better provisions to help Adam keep strong. I mean Jesus prayed for Peter that his faith would not fail, knowing the enemy was out to sift him like Wheat.

According to the Post, God just does things, even though God knows its Going to be a epic fail. So the Poster does not even Believe it was Adams fault in anyway because God is the one that put Adam and the tree in the Garden, knowing exactly what would happen. God must be unjust in some way. My Father and I are cool, He does have a sense of humor, and to run on about God Knew, but God did stupid anyway, then post a thread about it being Adams fault is pretty funny. (For me, My Father asked me to be kind and tone it down, I will)

We know by scripture, or at least get a pretty good idea about what happened. God showed me some of this and helped me put some of it together. I mean literally talked to me about it.

That tree of Calamity (Knowledge of adversity) Belonged to God. So did the tree of Life, but Adam did not know about that tree or or the fact it was right smack in front of him. It could be Adam did eat and then when death came, God guarded it.
The angles guarded it, When Adam made his way out. (Thrown out) (Gen 3:22)

That Tree of Calamity belonged to God, as did the tree of life. Everything else belonged to Adam. There is some principle here where God has his sacred things, like the Holy of Holly's where people bought the farm for not entering properly. There are also things God said are mans. You don't mess with God's stuff, its a respect lesson.

Adam should have tended that Tree of Calamity, and offered the fruit back to God. Satan got it twisted around to where Eve Believed they were not even suppose to touch that tree.

Satan was the unseen cog in the wheel. God walked with Adam daily, and taught Adam. What God did not count on is what He found.

Now these are God's own words, so I just have to go with scripture.
Throws off what I use to believe, but I can't change it if it's written.

Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
    (Eze 28:13-15)

And the LORD said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
    (Job 2:2)

God places Satan smack in that Garden. Now only Adam, Eve, God, and Satan are mentioned as ever being there. The Garden vanished long before Ezekiel.

It was in the Garden where Satan sealed his fate. The whole reason Jesus came was to destroy the Works of the devil. (2 Scriptures tell us that)

Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
    (Eze 28:15)

God never planed, or knew Adam would fail. God expected Adam to respect what was his. What God was not counting on was his most magnificent servant to turn on him and mess with God's man.

Now some don't like the fact God said he found something, and did not know it ahead of time or predestined it. However, God never created or planed to make junk either. God created Good and creates evil. However, its the created thing that decides to be evil.

Not God's fault, but Adam for not protecting the Garden.

Be blessed Abdicate, thank you for your respect and concern about my conversation about God. I doubt he thought it was funny, as he asked me to tone it down.
  17. I'm not going to argue with you one this because I know how you feel, but you sure do seem like a very angry person... it'll eat you up if you don't let it go.
  18. Right, I don't want a scripture war over Adam. There really needs to be more information about it, and God gave us what we really needed. I take the stance that God is not at fault, or the cause of people failing. People are at fault, and need to be responsible.

I get agitated when you show someone how many scriptures and they don't get it. Wife tells me all I have God gave me, so where do I find fault........ she has a point.

Obey God Adbicate. I am just using the forums as a outlet as I am suppose to be teaching again. I have to do what he says do, and it's not teaching. You will continue to sputter, until you pass those things you were unfaithful in. God forgives, but forgiveness does not denote your place back right away.

I don't hate anyone here or am angry at anyone. That is never the case. However, frustrated at other things tends to show out. Thank you for pointing that out, and I'll try to be good.

    Your blessed.
  19. Just remember one thing, don't assume that others know what you're talking about. I find it hard to understand your messages sometimes because I don't have all the information you're trying to convey. I only understand in this example your first sentence and your last paragraph, the rest doesn't make much sense - to me. I am much the same way and so I've learned I must reread my posts so I can convey what I'm trying to say. I'm not a good liar so out of habit I tell the truth - not because of some false sense of morality, although that would be a good reason - but because it takes too much energy to lie and remember the lie to perpetuate it. It's why I'll make a lousy politician. :p

I request you reread your first two posts on this thread because to me, it reads just the opposite of what you just said - that it's God's fault we're in this mess. Speaking facetiously isn't easy in text and so you must declare it or use an emoticon with a wink like this: ;)

It might save you from being misunderstood by more ignorant people like me. :D
  20. Ah.......................

You thought I was blaming God for Adam's (slight misstep) of getting the whole world cursed. Makes sense now, sorry about that. I was trailing from another post from the OP about Calvinism V.S Arminiamism (However you spell it) God predestines with complete Control, or God is a fortune teller giving man a false sense of free will though God knows the outcome anyway.

He is a Arminist (however you spell that) believing God knew every man's action before the foundation of the World.

So, when He asked what was Adams Transgression, He did not give the choice He truly believes in that it is God's fault. So I came in with Sarcasm..... (dumb, we are told not to jest) just sort of making fun that he believes one thing but says something else.

I have to stop doing that.

It's not Gods fault, no way, shape or form. God did not tell Satan to rebel, God did not tell Adam to eat the fruit. God did not set it up for Adam to fail, or set Satan up to fail, but instead Gave Satan many wonderful things and anointed him, and Blessed Adam......

To say God foreknows everything, circles it right back to no foreknowledge but election. To know running in front of a bus will hurt, a whole lot, but yet do it anyway is not foreknowledge anymore. It's being dumb.................... Or electing to run in front of the bus anyway.

To know Satan was going to go rotten and mess with Eve and to know Adam was going to blow it, even though God told Adam he would be blessed (lying to him) is not just foreknowledge once God Drops man in the Garden and creates Satan. It's a causative and election.

An Old Calvinist Argument about God's complete control over all things. Minus all the scriptures that are against Calvinism.

God told Adam to Subdue the whole earth...........

Gen 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Adam never saw this instruction come to pass, he died under the curse, it was God's plan to reveal his son an Obedient mankind who lived in harmony with God. This was the plan for Adam. Instead, the Son had to die for us and be mocked, though he was innocent.

According to the OP in another Thread...... God lied to Adam, and is a liar, because God knew before the foundation of the World Adam would blow it.
God mislead Adam to believe on thing when God knew it was going to be another.

Hence the sarcasm............. Really sorry again for the confusion. I'll try to stop.
