A Timely Christmas Carol

Hey crossnote;

This was the first time I listened to I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day and the lyrics, "The wrong shall fail the right prevail"

When I was a boy I remember Burl Ives who sang Jimmy Crack Corn and was the voice in the yearly animated family special Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

God bless you and thank you for sharing.

My wife was particularly gripped by these two sections in bold.

And in despair I bowed my head
"There is no peace on Earth, " I said
For hate is strong and mocks the song
Of peace on Earth, good will to men

But the bells are ringing (peace on Earth)
Like a choir singing (peace on Earth)
Does anybody hear them? (Peace on Earth)
Peace on Earth, good will to men
Then rang the bells more loud and deep
God is not dead, nor doth He sleep

(Peace on Earth)
(Peace on Earth)
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail
With peace on Earth, good will to men

And in despair I bowed my head
"There is no peace on Earth, " I said

I just heard a sermon this week and they described this song... and those two highlighted parts you mention.
A song of near despair... and then HOPE ARRIVES.
