5/6/14 Bible Study Pastor Michael= Are You Living the Blessed Life? Psalm 1:1-6

Don’t block your blessing! You should behave in a way that shows God that He can trust you! Is your life as joyous and happy as you would like it to be? Does your life have real meaning and purpose to it? To live the blessed life, you must be willing to love God more that the pleasures, riches and fame this world can offer. Hebrews 11:24-26. Moses chose to follow God than the riches of Pharaoh’s kingdom. Compared to what God has for us, the world’s riches are nothing.

To live the blessed life, you must get rid of self. You must submit yourself totally to God. Matthew 16:24-26. Instead of laying up treasures for yourself, you must lay up treasures in Heaven. Matthew 6:19-21. Don’t let evil and the devil distract you. We should live our lives to please God. The Bible is the pattern to live the blessed life. These blessings can only come by obeying God. In Psalm 1:1-6, God gives us instructions on how to live the blessed life.

We Must Avoid Certain Things To Have the Blessed Life:

The Word of God teaches that you must avoid and abstain yourself from things and people in order to live the blessed life. People that have impure thoughts, don’t respect authority or dress/behave themselves in a shameful manner. These people must be avoided. Psalm 1:1, Proverbs 4:14-15. Also avoid people that will give you bad advice. To live the blessed life, the Christian must shun and keep away from the bombardment of the devil’s destructive messages thru music lyrics, radio, television, internet and magazines. I Corinthians 15:23. The blessed life requires one to avoid lifestyles of the worldly, ungodly person (abortion, co-habitation, homosexuality, bi-sexuality). You cannot have the blessed life if you engage and love worldly activities because they are contrary to God. James 4:4

I John 2:15-17. Don’t love the world or the systems of the world. Love not the world! Love God and make Him the #1 priority. Then He can trust us with the blessing. We are to love God before anything or anyone else. He wants us to give Him the total credit for the blessing. Put Him First! Love God First! Then He will release his blessing on us. God is positioning us for the blessing!

Blessed Life Requires You to Delight in The Law of The Lord:
To enjoy the blessed life, it is required that you love the Word of God. We should take the attitude of Job concerning the words that proceed from God. Job 23:12, Psalm 119: 72, 123, Proverbs 23: 23. Studying the Word of God and meditating on it day and night is necessary to enjoy the blessed life. It is just like eating daily meals to sustain our physical health. Studying the Word involves applying the principals, precepts and commandments of God to your life. II Timothy 2:15, 3:16-17. Don’t be like some people who only obey God on things that feel good!

The blessed life is not an accidental life but an intentional life. We have to do things that will not hinder our blessings. Many of us came to the Lord when we were in distress. The worldly way was not working for us. What the world has to offer, it is temporary! It does not last. It appears to be something that it is not. We came to God because the world could not give us what it promised us! The joy that we have, the world didn’t give to us and the world cannot take it away!

God will not elevate people who have a heathen lifestyle! Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the one that DOES NOT walk in the counsel of the wicked. You are blessed by not doing things of the world or doing things the world’s way. You are blessed by not following sinners or the devil. You don’t need to have unsaved folk in your inner circle after you become a Christian. The Bible says people are to walk together. Unsaved and Saved people don’t go together! I Corinthians 15:33. Don’t be deceived, bad company will drag you down!
Are you living the blessed life? If not, why not? God has made a way for you to get back home through the death, burial and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ.
AMEN

Ga 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
4 Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.
5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Ga 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
