The best mathematical equation I have ever seen:
1 cross + 3 nails = 4 given.

Sat over breakfast in a hotel in mid Wales reading your blog it inspired me to pen the following

I don’t do maths

I don’t do maths
Find sums hard
But I can still recite my times tables
Couldn’t get to grips with the slide rule
It did make a good weapon
When, with an elastic band
The middle bit rocked across the room
I get hungry when they talk
About pie
And logarithms, what’s the point?
This of course is before
Calculators, computers
That do the hard work for you…
I’ve managed to get to sixty something
Without having to do algebra
My mind’s in a fog and my eyes glaze over
When they start talking about pure maths
As if the other maths isn’t right?
Do I need to round things up
Take a percentage
Times it by two
And take away the first number
I was thinking of?
I don’t know whether it’s
Pure maths, algebra,
Or something I’ve just made up!
But
One equation I get is:-
1 cross + 3 nails = 4 given
Pick the bones out of that!

I confess that I got lost in your response. But obviously, you are able to elaborate on what I posted in a great
(but challenging way) to me. Hope you enjoyed your breakfast. I have never been to Wales, but I wish I will have the
opportunity to visit there someday.
 
I admit, I never understood the meaning of what cross and nails meant, but I do now 😊

there comes a point when it just clicks, and for me its only through experience. and the pain in getting there lol.
